If USA is not there to lead the globe which country is legitimized to to make this world a better one.
(I am of the opinion that Usa is as banal as pathetic as anyother country)
I am not against the people who struggle to uphold the DREAMS and wave their dirty linon which is called FLAG..
But i am dead against the 200 year#s history of USA)
Any one wish to enlighten a person like me who is a regular visitor of this able to know forum( I am not sure)

@Ramafuchs,
two questions for Americans
As a Canadian I have two questions. Sorry if they seem naive but I have to ask.

1. Do you worry about guns or people having guns so freely?

The reason I ask is as a Canadian I have never seen or fired a handgun, as they are restricted weapons (Not that gun-crimes or crime does not happen here). It just seems to me that if everyone had a gun more people would be shooting at each other whether its accidental or not. I mean do you have to watch your mouth at a bar or in the streets just in case you get a crazy with a gun and you set them off.

2. Are you really that serious about drugs?

Not to be the typical Canadian but if i got caught with some pot here I would get a ticket if that, and if I had a lot maybe arrested but no jail time. I see people on TV getting arrested all the time for pot in the US, maybe its just the media but it seems to me they make it out to be as bad as Meth or Coke.

I have other questions but they can wait, but I will gladly answer any questions about Canada

@Ramafuchs,
Find law has this question.
What does it mean for something to be "un-American"?

Was Rumsfeld himself un-American?

What one considers un-American depends on what one views as characteristically American.
Was slavery American or un-American?
What was more American: the Civil Rights Movement or Jim Crow?
Can anyone truly rank the following on a scale of American to un-American: the Marshall Plan, the Enola Gay, the massacre at Wounded Knee, and the First Amendment?

Given U.S. history and its vicissitudes, one has a choice: either recognize that the term is malleable and essentially meaningless, or use it to claim what is best in the country's heritage, and to firmly reject what is not.

The real questions are what do we want to be as Americans, and what do we want our country to represent?

@Ramafuchs,
Not all the A2k members speak my language but some Americans reflect my views without any spelling mistakes. Here is one more question from an american.

The Washington Post on September 14 and 15 published two articles adapted from a new book by Barton Gellman entitled, “Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency.” The articles describe how the Vice President’s office directed a domestic surveillance program deemed illegal by Justice Department lawyers, keeping all but a small circle of administration officials " including President Bush apparently " in the dark.

Only when President Bush discovered at the last minute that virtually the entire leadership of the Department of Justice was prepared to resign rather than participate in illegal activity did he give the order to the Department to make the changes necessary to bring the program in compliance with the law.

It seems clear that Vice President Cheney, his chief of staff David Addington, then-White House counsel Alberto Gonzales, and then-White House chief of staff Andrew Card participated in a conspiracy to commit a crime.
The question is, who is going to prosecute them for their actions?

@Ramafuchs,
Yahoo has this question and get it resolved quickly.

Do you Americans actually ask any questions about "issues" in this election or is it all about childish.....?
....slagging matches.

The absolute rubbish we see posted on YA has nothing to do with actual issues and policy.

What's with the silly name calling and crazy accusations from both sides ?

I don't see many questions here about economic issues, crime, health, education etc etc.

Why is this ?

Does this stuff not matter ?

As a non American I find it to be amusing on one hand but a little worrying on the other that a people entrusted with picking the most powerful person in the world seem to be treating this decision as a high school popularity contest.

(The response)
Most voters in the U.S. seem to be interested in only one thing; their mundane self-centered lives, therefore willfully being lead like sheep to slaughter to the alter of veiled truths and compouded lies. Believing only in what diatribe the media feeds them on on political choices; no matter the issues. Political Ads get canidates elected. How very sad that they make their choice for our nations leader via TV sound bites and brief photo ops.

TIME HAS THIS QUESTION which had arrested the attention of 151 readers.

No Questions, Please. We'll Tell You What You Need To Know.
(One guy has this retort.)
1.What do you make of recent political developments in Pakistan?

2. As a mother, what do you think of John' McCain's position that programs like SCHIP, which provides health insurance to low incomes children, should not be expanded?

3. How do you define "victory" in Iraq, and if the Surge has worked so well, why can't we bring the troops home now?

4. How do we pay for the occupation of Iraq?

5. If human's do not cause global warming, does that mean that we shouldn't do more to limit greenhouse gases?

6. DO you think that the American people are a nation of whiners as described by Phil Gramm?

7. How do you propose we provide health insurance and care to the 40 million Americans who currently have no insurance?

I could go on and on, but I think we do have a right to see how much she knows and what she thinks regarding the complex problems facing our nation. With all due respect to Nicole, it's not about the press and reading canned zingers off a teleprompter simply does not convey any grasp of the issues

@Ramafuchs,
April 15th pew had made a survey.
Here is a quote.

Eight people out of the 1,502 respondents answered all 23 questions correctly.
At the other end of the spectrum,
The average respondent got about 12 of the 23 questions right, or slightly more than half. 10 percent answered 20 or more questions accurately - and 5% got more than 20 questions wrong or said they did not know the answer.

@Ramafuchs,
Some questions are pricking, peiering and painful.
here is one q and the answer.

Is All Hope Lost, or Can We Find It?
By Andrew L. Yarrow

The resonance of Sen. Barack Obama's call for "hope" is striking, because hope seems in such short supply. This spring, 81 percent of Americans told the New York Times/ CBS News poll that "things have pretty seriously gotten off on the wrong track"; 9 out of 10 gave the economy a negative rating in a Washington Post/AP survey; and 74 percent told Public Agenda that the world is becoming a more dangerous place. As Phil Gramm so indelicately said, we are in a "mental recession." America's sour mood has many roots and faces. The economy - with the deepening credit crisis, a $9.5 trillion national debt, collapsing personal savings, a punctured housing bubble, the dollar's free fall, soaring gas and food prices, and China's relentless rise - seems headed to hell in a handbasket. We've been in Iraq and Afghanistan longer than it took to rout the Nazis, and for purposes that seem ever less discernible, besmirching America's image abroad. Political leaders appear corrupt and vicious. Finance, business and the media are close behind in public contempt. And this ignores pesky issues such as education, global warming, crumbling infrastructure and national security.

@Ramafuchs,
How much attention have you been able to pay to the 2008 presidential campaign
Is your opinion of Barack Obama favorable, not favorable, undecided, or haven't you heard enough about Barack Obama yet to have an opinion?
Is your opinion of John McCain favorable, not favorable, undecided, or haven’t you heard enough about John McCain yet to have an opinion?
How likely is it that you will vote in the 2008 election for President this November - would you say you will definitely vote, probably vote, probably not vote, or definitely not vote in the election for President?
If the 2008 presidential election were being held today and the candidates were Barack Obama for President and Joe Biden for Vice President, the Democrats, and John McCain for President and Sarah Palin for Vice President, the Republicans, would you vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden or John McCain and Sarah Palin?
Is your mind made up or is it still too early to say for sure?
Regardless of how you intend to vote for President in 2008, who do you expect to finally win the 2008 presidential election " John McCain or Barack Obama?
Do you feel things in this country are generally going in the right direction or do you feel things have pretty seriously gotten off on the wrong track?
How would you rate the condition of the national economy these days? Is it very good, fairly good, fairly bad or very bad?
Which of the following three statements comes closest to expressing your overall view of the health care system in the United States:
1. On the whole, the health care system works pretty well and only minor changes are necessary to make it work better.
2. There are some good things in our health care system, but fundamental changes are needed.
3. Our health care system has so much wrong with it that we need to completely rebuild it.

Do you think Barack Obama understands the needs and problems of people like yourself?
How confident are you in John McCain's ability to make the right decisions about the economy " are you very confident, somewhat confident, not too confident, or not at all confident?
Do you think John McCain says what he believes most of the time, or does he say what he thinks people want to hear?
If Barack Obama is elected president, do you think that will make the United States' image in the world better, make it worse, or will it have no effect on the United States' image in the world?
Do you think Sarah Palin is prepared for the job of Vice President, or isn't she?
If elected, John McCain would be 72 years old when he assumes office. Do you think his being 72 years old might make it too difficult for him to do the work the presidency requires, or do you think his age helps him have the experience and wisdom to do a good job as president?
do you think the United States did the right thing in taking military action against Iraq, or should the U.S. have stayed out?
What is your personal feeling about abortion:
1. It should be permitted in all cases;
2. It should be permitted, but subject to greater restrictions than it is now;
3. It should be permitted only in cases such as rape, incest and to save the woman’s life; OR
4. It should ONLY be permitted to save the woman’s life?
Is your family financially better off today than it was four years ago, worse off financially, or is it about the same as it was four years ago?
Think about your household income, would say that it is more than enough so that you can save and buy some extras, just enough to meet your bills and obligations, or it is not enough to meet your bills and obligations?
do you usually consider yourself a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent, or what?
How would you describe your views on most political matters? Generally, do you think of yourself as liberal, moderate, or conservative?

@Ramafuchs,
Politics has always been lousy with blather and chicanery. But there are rules and traditions too. In the early weeks of the general-election campaign, a consensus has grown in the political community"a consensus that ranges from practitioners like Karl Rove to commentators like, well, me"that John McCain has allowed his campaign to slip the normal bounds of political propriety. The situation has gotten so intense that we in the media have slipped our normal rules as well. Usually when a candidate tells something less than the truth, we mince words. We use euphemisms like mendacity and inaccuracy ... or, as the Associated Press put it, "McCain's claims skirt facts." But increasing numbers of otherwise sober observers, even such august institutions as the New York Times editorial board, are calling John McCain a liar.
You might well ask, What has McCain done to deserve this?
What unwritten rules did he break?
