Isabel Approaches - Bush Runs!

As Hurricane Isabel arrives, could we expect anything else from the heroic defender of America, who enjoys looking brave in flak jackets at photo-opportunities, but needs others to avoid the tough questions and fight his battles? Embarrassed

Last seen muttering to an aide, "Can we blame Al-kaeda for this?". Twisted Evil

Whilst the President remains safe from Isabel, cowering in his luxurious storm cellar at Camp David, it seems that at least eight of our forces were killed in two separate attacks in Iraq today, according to early reports by nearby A.P. and the B.B.C. reporters.

Since then, however, official denials have been issued, claiming that only two soldiers were 'slightly injured' - even though the army trucks being used were destroyed beyond recognition, followed by major gun battles.

Truly a miracle? Very Happy Or official statistics, in the run-up to the election, as real as Saddam's Weapons Of Mass Destruction? Twisted Evil

The serious point is, are the official daily allied death tolls in Iraq being massaged and minimised, allegedly for reasons of national security, although the war officially ended some months ago according to the President?

With all the reporters running around over there? I doubt any casualty is being mis-represented.

The Iraq Coalition Casualty Count records all military casualties; Pentagon and DoD apparently don't count it if, for example, a soldier comes under fire, crashes the Hummer and is killed.

This record does not appear to reflect non-military casualties, such as, again for example, the Kellogg Brown & Root employee who was killed last month when his vehicle exploded.

And no one I can ascertain is keeping track of Iraqi casualties, civilian or otherwise.

COSTING AMERICANS $65 MILLION

Yesterday the Imperial Federal Government virtually shut down in Washington DC. The Metro trains stopped running a full 12 hours before the hurricane even hit the coast of North Carolina. And how did things turn out in DC? It was a breezy, rainy day. That's it. Nothing more. Meanwhile, the shutdown cost the American taxpayers about $65 million in lost productivity. Many private businesses stayed open in the nation's capitol ... but not government. There's a lesson here. Please tell me I don't need to elaborate.

George, the stormy weather has gone. So it's safe to come out of your shelter, put on your flak jacket once more and pose for the photographers looking suitably macho as defender of the nation ...... until the next time it rains. Rolling Eyes
