Noticed(to my disgust) that some Dates (fruits from date palm tree) when opened have an infestation of tiny eggs inside - what are the eggs from?

@tali,
It's from a type of small fly if I remember correctly.

@rosborne979,
Seems likely. I've seen a similarly infested fig tree, with the eggs turned to writhing maggots/larvae. Not good figs.

I saw a documentary on Cecada's the other day. They had larve inside dates.

@MagicBlackCat,
I ate cherries with little white worms in them...had 13 before I figured it out...

my friend split one before she ate it...we saw the little white wiggly worm...the next 10 we split had them...stands to reason I ate some myself...I never got sick...maybe it was just a little protein. But it was quite a shock and made me feel a little sick to think about it.
