as the say, opposites attract...
my wife, ms. dtom, is not a political junkie. she finds the whole thing to be counter productive (and i'm beginning to think she's right). but, when she says something, it's usually worth hearing.
the other night, we were watching the news, and all anyone wanted to yak about was john edwards. i finally had enough and commented** that i didn't really care who he, or any other politician, boinked. all i'm interested in is who's gonna do the job and get the usa back on track.
and that's when the missus remarked; "the problem these days is that we've made politicians into celebrities. it doesn't seem to matter if they actually do anything, just that we like them and want to hang out with them" followed by; "so people just follow them around lookin' for dirt".
just when i start thinking that she doesn't pay attention...
so, i guess the question is; would we be better off supporting less attractive, less charismatic, less "ready to have a beer with" guys in drab suits and bright minds?
just to keep things even, i gotta say that i see addressing 200k germans and yukking it up with "15,000 harley's" equally rock starish. neither event did much to define answers and solutions for the average american voter.
** yelled at the t.v. is more accurate. ;8 > )-
Watching the embedded journalists/ stenographers is the last resort for me.
