Yes, Night Owls is fine because I'm getting older and its harder to remember a lot of different things all at once. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)

Meanwhile you guys have been following all the flap over the pollution masks in Beijing. I think our bicycle folks just apologized for wearing masks when they arrived. Seems some officials were insulted since the Chinese have worked so hard to clean up the place and make it more inhabitable for the Olympics. They didn't ask our people to apologize but we did anyway.

I understand, however, that there is a standard issue pollution mask that meets all necessary specifications, so I've taken the liberty of laying in a supply for all our teams. You can order yours for $5/each with a generous discount for larger quantities. See below. . .

Welcome to A2K MrKingsley. If the dope-testers have a day off, you may get lucky with our horses.

Really? You know something? I should maybe make a trade in Group D? (I wonder if that would be insider trading?)

Well, I wouldn't like to saddle you with unbridled hope (sorry).

Well true. A saddle with no bridle is usually not a well thought out plan. But hope should spring eternal nonetheless. Don't you think every young man and woman headed for Beijing to compete has just a glimmer of 'maybe?' in his/her head?

the games are on!

Quote:
Soccer actually kicked off the Olympic schedule early, giving Canada its first victory of these Games. The Canadian women beat Argentina 2-1 on Wednesday in their first-ever Olympic match.

did I know that the games actually started before the opening ceremonies?

My understanding, ehbeth, is that some sports, like soccer, require a day or two of rest between matches. In order to make the schedule work, they have to start early.

I don't know when FB will cut off registration.

As stated in the rules, registration will be closed when the Opening Ceremony finishes. Around 10:00 CST, Friday.

I don't think soccer preliminaries can give much of an advance.
