@fbaezer,
I am disappointed I wasn't able to hold off George, but pleased I was able to stay ahead of the gerbils.

Congrats to all the winners.

@fbaezer,
Unless there are some Russian Women in the boxing finals, it appears that position 28 has been consolidated.

Congrats to tgordon92 and to all other participants. Special thanks to ElStudHoncho for making it interesting at the bottom and for helping to prevent my otherwise Catholic aversion to doing battles with ex-Nuns, particularly Disgraced Ones.

Thanks fbaezer for all your efforts and for creating an enjoyable thread. Looking forward now to the medal ceremony....

fbaezer, thank you SO much for putting this together. Lots of fun.

New folks, I do hope you'll stick around. You've been a joy to compete with, as have our beloved regulars.

Gatorade for all!

@jespah,
I'm seconding jespah in hoping the feisty fantasy newcomers to a2k stick around. We have more fantasy games, and lots of argumentative discussions, and camaraderie about the discussions (much of the time.)

Congratulations to tgordon!
Major thanks to fbaezer..

I await settling of disputed positions of the middle and bottom groups...

Hungary gold in waterpolo, and Morocco - Ethiopia making the 2-3 in the marathon made the difference for Imur.

That was fun, thanks to fbaezer! You made us watch the Olympics and I am
glad I did. Thank you also for the work behind the scenes, fbaezer, working
out all the pointing system and posting it every day!

My congratulations to the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners of a2k!! You rock! I also hope that the new additions will stick around and get to know the rest of a2k. Very Happy

Thanks to fbaezer and my distinguished opponents in this really fun fantasy olympics. ElStudHoncho won't have access to a computer until sometime tomorrow, but he will probably have a parting word for the field too. As to whether we can persuade him to stick around, encouragement sometimes does help. Congratulations to the winners and everybody else too. This was great.

And I'm also pointing out that is was through guts, determination, and sheer tenaciousness that allowed the mighty Night Owls to hang on to Position 20.....for days and days now.

@Foxfyre,
The dogpaddlers failed to fulfill their mission to reach the pool bottom, but did manage to hold steady in a water treading manner at 23, which wasn't easy. Their manager used to be able to swim a mile, but was never much good at water treading.

@markr,
I got it exactly from the same source: the official Beijing page.

And indeed I was missing 2 golds and a silver from US Men. Don't know why. Thanks for letting me notice my mistake.

Still there is a difference between your count and mine.
Perhaps the difference comes from the fact that I gave both Men and Women a medal only when the team was mixed. If a woman won an open competition, the medal wouldn't go to a man.

The final official results will be posted in a jiffy.
