I had hospital duty earlier but am now just back in the office trying to get some work done but am watching the USA women play Japan in volleyball out of the corner of my eye. No idea if it is real time or broadcast from tape.

Our coverage of the opening ceremony here was indeed awe inspiring--the Chinese definitely know how to put on a show--but I agree that the commercials were frustrating From beginning to end, the entire event was 4-1/2 hours just so they could run the interminable commercials that significantly broke the flow and. I still wouldn't have wanted to miss it though I imagine NBC lost a lot of viewers before it was all over.

FB, I've no tv, almost never listen to radio, thus live in my computer's grip. I'll be using this thread for a sort of olympic news fulcrum, even though I don't expect to see results listed, and then, at my leisure will look around at ehBeth's link and some other news sources. Am hoping some good bits show up on YouTube. (Sports is the main thing I miss about tv, in my few moments of missing it, with the Olympics at the height of that, despite commercials up the kazoo and jingoism here.)

Wonderful to be first, I'll treasure that memory (drama!), but it'll pass. It's especially amusing since the Ticomaniacs are knocking out the Dogeared Southpaws today on the Fantasy Baseball thread.

I moved to a different (independent) channel and here we watched
the volleyball game Italy:Russia (Italy won, yeaaahhh!!!), and are
now into rowing. Poor guys - it's 92 F and very humid. GB won the first
single rowing. The 2 people rowing is still going on.....very interesting,
and more importantly, very few commercials.

Thanks for giving us such a prompt update on our points, fbaezer. I didn't expect to see results this early.

Thanks, I don't think I can repeat the feat.
But a through first day check is mandatory to see if the spreadsheet had any flaws (it had).

And yes, special congratulations to Croatia. Just goes to show that those not considered to be olympic power houses want to win just as much and can.

If any of you goes to the official website of the Beijing Games, there is a link that will send you to internet-tv viewing. You click on your country name and alas!
No dumb commentators, either!

I don't know about the rest, but the link for Latin America (terra) has 13 channels to choose from.

I agree Foxyfire! Congratulations to Croatia and MOU Very Happy

Pair rowing womens' teams - Germany made silver, hurrahh! The New Zealand girls won gold - much deserved, I might add.

You have 16 more days to redeem yourself, George (and I'm sure you will).

We're watching handball now - Russia:Korea. Wow those girls are tough!!

Are you referring to fbaezer's 2004 Olympics thread not being featured?

The first Fantasy Olympics thread was featured in its time, which was 2004.

Thank you for your concern, rama.
