Then we went up to St Andrews and had a look round there. His Highness the Prince William was not in the souvenir shop, nor anywhere else about, though Mrs McTag had a good root round.

You never should announce, McTag, the actualy day of your stay there!

Checking in from Oslo.

I think my out of office activities made me miss the start of this thread.

Happy Englishman abroad!

Now if Arsenal can beat Inter Milan at the San Siro tonight, I'll be really happy.

The online dictionary, I used, has two complete sentences:

- Jeg har en gul paraply med rosa prikker på. (I have a yellow umbrella with pink dots on it.)

and

- Det er en ape i hagen din. (There is a monkey in your garden)

I'm sure, these will be very helpful during your stay! Laughing

I cheered as loudly as anyone when Jason Robinson scored his try!

Good for you McTag. I know this sounds rather pompous but I was really delighted not just with the score but the way in which the game was played, the way the players behaved (of both teams) and generally exhibited all things decent. Neil Back's little girl kissing the trophy...oh dear getting emotional...

Its a real pleasure to be able to take unadulterated pride for once in an outstanding achievement which was a credit to all those involved and reflects credit on the game of rugby, England, Britain, er Europe (Jacques Chiraq et les bleues) er...the Northern Hemisphere...er..Samoa, (never did find it on the map), well the entire world in fact; including Wales.

Meanwhile back in the real world of association football superstars (the ones children really want to emulate)

Freddy Lungeberg gets sent off for swearing at the referee. (How pathetic is that..)
Lee Hughes spends the night in gaol after crashing his car and running away.

However McTag I have my suspicions...

Quote:
We watched the rugby match in a pub in Edinburgh, and the atmosphere was marvellous. there was a "Walkabout" Aus bar, but too many people crowding in, so we went nearby, to another pub...

So your first choice was an Aussie bar eh?

what did you think of the referee's performance btw. Absolutely diabolical imo, but you would never have known it from the reaction of the players!!!

Deep Purple were in the hotel bar last night.

Old(ish) men with a number of 20(ish) year old women...and we were stuck with a bunch of IT specialists!!!

Funny.

Walter,

Didn't miss a thing...great result gives Arsenal the chance to go through.

Watched it at a bar called "Highbury" (the name of Arsenal's ground), surrounded by fellow "Gunners".

"tusen Takk" is good for Norway, I've found.

It's Norwegian for "Cheers, mate, fanxaloh' "

1-5, incredible. That must have been one cheerful Gunners bar.

SouthAfrican rugby referee's performance, puzzling, wasn't it Steve? More credit to England, who refused to let a last-min dubiously-awarded score-tying penalty throw them.

Seaman finds his Zimmerframe gets in the way of his custodianship at ManCity.

He must have let about eight avoidable goals in so far. What a wazzock.

A wazzok is British (and French) slang, " a mild insult", meaning something like "one who is foolish, one who has made an a**** of themselves, one who is rather daft".
