True. I bet that guy who bought the civil war musket at my uncle's auction for $1500 is a master criminal and murderer.

The type of gun is irrelevant (unless it is an illegal type). In my mind, that transaction should still be documented because it is a firearms sale.

It is documented - in this case by the auction house.

But your focus on "strawman" purchases simply doesn't ring true. Getting an FFL to sell firearms is so difficult and costly, no gun dealer is going to knowingly supply someone they suspect of reselling to those that cannot legally purchase the gun.

Also, when a gun is stolen, is there a record of the transaction?

Unless this information is passed on to a government agency, it is meaningless.

I don't care about the cost or difficulty, it's a responcibility above all else, and if you want your guns, then I think you can deal with it.

As for knowing what someone is going to do with a gun, you yourself said you can't guess intent.

When the smart citizen reports it to the police. My way would have that gun well documented before it was ever stolen so that if it is used it would already be entered into a forensic database.

I wondered why CJ was such a gun nut. Its not about guns, its about money. Having to register guns and gun owners might cut down on sales.

Which would make your earlier statement "False."

He's probably more hard core than I am. In fact I'm far from the most fervent of the gun rights supporters. I could introduce you to a few.
