Real bad!

What part of the country do you live in and who is the dealer?

Any suggestions on what I should do? They're coming out today to "check" the softener tank.

Let me state that the ONLY reason I need this water crap is to qualify for the FHA. I have been drinking this water my entire life, but I'm trying to buy the house from my dad, and the FHA is requiring that the water meet these standards. The cheapest band aid possible to get me through the water test and then I don't really care if I have manganese or not!

BTW I'm in Atlantic County NJ.

I've done a lot of water quality remediation involving the VA and FHA.

In most cases a softener removes manganese. Replace your present resin or because of the brand and age of the softener you have, replace the whole softener by buying online and you'll actually save money compared to their charges just to replace the resin. I'd call and cancel the appointment with them instead of paying their service call charge.
