Not really, but there's a close substitute. I fiercely disagree with myself about all kinds of things such as what to do next (Procrastinate or get work done. Pay bills or clean up?) Each disagreement with myself leads to intense debate, which may or may not get settled.

I think that must be based on the word cherub, which doesn't quite fit the incisive Thomas who is also about the world's fastest walker except for a couple of others - but that's close enough.

I can understand Thomas' motives here. Though I'm not into formal vows, and generally avoid making rules that might inconvenience me later, I increasingly find the political threads a pointless exercise. Information or better understanding are only rarely the subject of the exchanges - instead it is mostly just posturing and invective. A while back they were better - at least I can recall a few interesting, stimulating, and informative exchanges, but they are now very rare. Too bad: the subject does interest me -- though one could easily argue that I should have come to this conclusion long ago.
I've decided to focus on more serious things such as (1) What the hell happened to Calamity's avatar? Why this series of hags? The original was far more pleasing,.. and it was her! (2) Where the hell is Walter?? (3) Some of Mame's stock tips. (4)How does Thomas find Northern New Jersey, compared to Munich??

You know georgeob1, I seem to get less talking back with this avatar,
and I like that! It's the fear factor
Yeah, I wish too that Walter would come back.
Stock tips in THIS market? She must be a genius!
There is no comparison to Munich (my hometown)

Nonsense. Imposing doesn't mean ugly, and you're imposing enough in person and here on these threads.
As we have seen, Mame is a smart cookie on things she focuses on.
I've seen a lot of this world, but sadly, never Munich. I need to correct that.

That's probably because you place too high a value on rationality, Thomas. Many choices, in truth, have very little to do with it.

You certainly should, George. In a couple of weeks you'll find me there
sipping a beer in one of the many, many beautiful beergardens.

I liked Munich, too. What is that gothic-looking building in the Marienplatz, CJ? I always forget the name of it. Have a bratwurst and a Radler for me.

Of course, Francis!
Mame, that's our "Rathaus". The local government and administrative building.
and the beergarden

No problem about the derailing, but damn you for making me homesick!
You know, discussions on politics (or religion or philosophy or who has the best sports team) don't have to automatically be childish, infuriating, talking points, baiting, school yard insulting boring exchanges. And those brief moments when there are intelligent and informative exchanges, at least some members actually come away with a different perspective or better informed than they were before.
Or not.
Maybe.
Possibly?
Anyhow, a2k does seem to be encouraging more civility in its new home so maybe it will all be better? As familiar 'faces' started showing up here, I realized I was glad to see them. That means something.
Maybe try the new menu before swearing off completely?
