An A2K Chastity Vow

Today, Mame said something utterly reasonable. It wasn't the first time she did this, but this time her reasonableness was especially striking. She said, and I quote:
I'm always mind-boggled At the heat, passion, and interest People have in politics. It's always The same.
(linebreaks added to bring out the full weight of literary composition)

She's right. And that's why I hereby make the following chastity vow:
  • I shall henceforth, until the 2008 presidential election has been held, the votes counted, and the result cleared by the Supreme Court, abstain from posting to the A2K politics threads.

  • No political opinion shall pass my lips until then.

  • I may or may not use loopholes to engage in political intercourse, such as the ones presented by forums like "Legal", "Books", and "Philosophy and debate". But if I do, I will use them sparingly.
Thanks for showing me the light, Mame.

Honest! I'm as serious as you were in your anti-lerve, anti-flirting, anti-sexual-innuendo thread!

Nonsense...I was pretty serious on that thread. The place had become a seething pool of hormones!

This? Ha!

Well, I believe him. I also believed BPB the first 4 or 5 times he said something similar.

Yes...as well as healthy scepticism, there's the quality of discourse argument.

I know they will, I know they will tempt me, and I know I will lust for a manly, perilous battle of arguments. So thanks for your wishes of good luck. I'll need it.

I'd bet with you on the outcome. But my currently-ongoing bets don't look so good. Quite possibly, oil won't be falling below $62 a barrel until October 2008 after all, so it's awfully likely I'll owe dinner to Steve and Walter. I can't allow myself to be ruined, but my resolve in this matter is ... resolute!

Hmmmm. Interesting idea. Maybe I could start one of these, too.

We haven't decided yet. Actually, we made the bet in 2005. There is hope that Steve and Walter have forgotten it.

Of course, there's also hope that oil will fall below $63 again.

Oh, Thomas is talking about politics.
When I first read the title I thought he'll join the Franciscan monks...

Naaaw. When a greater part of your body than not consists of overweight, you don't need Franciscans to help you with that kind of chastity.
