If you could go back to 2000 and make someone else president instead of the massive f*** up George W. Bush, who would you pick?
I imagine that Al Gore, John McCain and Barack Obama would be the most popular choices.
I'm going with an unorthodox one, Ron Paul.
He spoke out against Iraq when barely any other politician dared to.
He spoke out against out of control lending practices when the economy was doing well.
He spoke out for tying our dollar to gold before inflation starting skyrocketing.
He would have vetoed any budget passed by congress that wasn't completely balanced, I'm sure of it.
The man is a freaking genius.

The days of wise men becoming President of the US are long gone.
The last one got shot.
Now they are nothing but corporate puppets.
I would pick LBJ since we are fantasizing..

He was a sinister character.
Wonder if he actually hired the French guy who 'did the job' on JFK
I'd have to go with Jimmy Carter--he was the last POTUS to implement an executive energy policy. Too bad his replacement decided to throw the whole thing to his special interests. If his replacement had let half the energy programs that Carter started, we wouldn't be in the situation we are now---and no I'm not talking about the 55mph speed limit, that was Ford's program. Carters was much more comprehensive-- it included credits for alternate energy and conservation, CAFE standards, standardization of Nuclear Power. Coal gasification and liquefaction, development of oil shales---
Unfortunately Carter's energy programs scared the hell out of the Saudi's and the oil companies, and they had the media and the loyal opposition in their pockets and now they have the rest of us by the balls.
Rap
I've said many times that my preference for the general election in 2000 was Bradley vs McCain. At that time I would have picked either of them over Bush/Gore, probably siding with McCain.
Paul Wellstone/Bernie Sanders
Wellstone! That'd be cool.
McCain, Bradley or Gore, any of them would have been wonderful.
NickFun. I always had a thing for interns. And mine would have been much hotter and more desirable.
Either that or Ron Paul. Or Al Gore.
I'd go with NickFun too. He just looks presidential to me. Plus, he would probably have thrown some of his hot intern cast-offs my way.
If elected I promise an intern in every pot.
Al Gore continues to
be a massive f**k up
Given the choices in 2000, I guess I would make John McCain president.
