I believe Obama has won over a percentage of young Jewish secular voters. Many of the older Jewish voters, as Democrats, wanted Hillary. Now they might just vote for McCain.

Zippo, if you know anything about U.S. eastern urban demographics, then you might know that many of the neighborhoods that are today considered African-American neighborhoods were once white ethnic neighborhoods, including neighborhoods that were "Jewish" from around 1910 to 1960. Then, with a big migration from the South, they became Black. The transition wasn't just based on "white flight." It was also based on not liking white children being bullied by some of these new arrivals. Northern whites tended to leave a neighborhood, rather than deal with a situation. Plus, the maturing generation of ethnic whites wanted to make a better life in the growing suburbia, so in effect, room was made for the migration from the South.

Anyway, it's my belief that there is a demographic of older white ethnic Democrats that are very different than the younger generation of Democrats. They are not bigots by any standard, but the wariness towards African-Americans (often not the same feelings towards West Indian Blacks) comes from the 1960's experience of white flight to suburbia. And, let's be honest, Obama has been very much involved with the Chicago urban African-American community. The same white ethnic Democrat that might not vote for Obama might just vote for Condaleeza Rice or General Powell. I believe its that association with the urban African-American experience that might be turning off a percentage of the white ethnic Democrats.
