Gluing an egg to a bunch of feathers and pinning it to the seat of my white pants. Then putting a red comb in my hair atop my head, and going as a chicken.... hmmmm?

One of my favorite costumes (worn by a married couple) were "boobs".... LOL.... they had on red swimcaps that came all the way down to their neck, and a soft pink material gathered around the neck, going down to about their knees, ending in a hula-hoop.... LOL....

Another favorite... (we have ferry boats here).... (also worn by a married couple)... the wife dressed up as a doctor and the husband dressed up as a fairy.... they were the Point Defiance Ferry Dock.... LOL....

:-)

The Wiggles, of australian children's TV fame, show how to make an emu costume (for kids of course). I dunno if it'd translate into adult size. But, if you do it, you'll need something to make your butt stick way out in back.

I got a couple of fake fur coats from the neighborhood Goodwill. Cut the arms off one of them, and sewed the bottom sleeves shut, pulled them over my feet and laced them with leather laces. Sewed the sleeve holes shut, and turned the body into a skirt. Then took one of the sleeves off another and made a halter top - With a club and a bone necklace it makes a great 'cave woman' costume. I won best costume for that one, one year.
