To the public, these men are members of a familiar fraternity, presented tens of thousands of times on television and radio as "military analysts" whose long service has equipped them to give authoritative and unfettered judgments about the most pressing issues of the post-Sept. 11 world.

Hidden behind that appearance of objectivity, though, is a Pentagon information apparatus that has used those analysts in a campaign to generate favorable news coverage of the administration's wartime performance, an examination by The New York Times has found.

[The effort, which began with the buildup to the Iraq war and continues to this day, has sought to exploit ideological and military allegiances, and also a powerful financial dynamic: Most of the analysts have ties to military contractors vested in the very war policies they are asked to assess on air.

How out of touch can you be to ask a question like that?

Why do you hate America, foofie?

Next time, read the article before you ask such an idiotic question.

Your response has nothing to do with the logic or truth of the initial posting; it only talks about me and your opinion of me. There is no reason to personalize your response with comments about me; I do notice that is done in this forum on more than one occasion. Sad, that some people don't prefer to invalidate a position with logic, but responds with personal comments about a person.

What is sad is the lack of outrage over being lied into war.

Look up Leo Strauss as the father of neoconservatism. You'll see that the truth is maleable for the greater good. In my own opinion, not everyone in this country can stomach the bare truth; perhaps one vote doesn't buy access to all information. That's why the government has a system of classifying information.

Really? Favorable News Coverage?

An objective observer would have discounted "news coverage" from all media outlets years ago when GW decided to continue this police action in Iraq.

The NYT has finally figured this out? No wonder they are losing money!
