Iran threatens to eliminate Israel

Iran will destroy Israel if Israel attacks Teheran, Iranian Deputy Chief of Staff Mohammad Reza Ashtiani warned Tuesday in response to a threat issued last week by National Infrastructure Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer.

"We are not worried by the recent Israeli maneuvers, but if Israel wants to take any action against the Islamic republic, we will eliminate Israel from the universe," the Iranian Mehr agency quoted Ashtiani as saying.

Ben-Eliezer had warned that "Iran will be wiped off the face of the earth if it dares to fire any missile at us."

Later in the week, Ben-Eliezer would not retract his statement: "I do not regret the threats I directed at Iran and its leaders. I am sick of receiving threats to Israel's existence on a daily basis."

if we all just stood back and let Iran and Israel open fire on each other with nukes it would certainly eliminate a lot of problems...

Hopefully, it could be a pay per view event. I would pay to see it happen. Mutual destruction...now that is reality TV!

What precisely is Israel supposed to do?

Bear, Iran is hopelessly overmatched... to say nothing of Israel being "connected."

The Iranian population would be decimated, through no choice of their own. They seem no happier with Ahmadinejad or his puppet masters than you are with Bush. Indeed, some chant for his death in defiance of serious threats of heinous torture and death. The difference is; you're free to speak your mind and your vote counts.

It's all just rhetoric. Why get all spun up about it? We know that Israel is not going to bomb Iran without pretext and Iran is not going to directly confront Israel.

and what has that to do with the fact that it would eliminate a lot of problems?

I don't give a **** about what happens to any of them.... as long as America is comfortable, not involved in being the conscience of the world and takes care of it's own.

Any German can vouchsafe my views..
