I thought we could use a game thread in politics.
My brother is a racist Southern Baptist preacher who works in a funeral home and thinks that black people have the mark of Cain. That should make you all wonder about what I really think.
Your turn.
Go look up the word subtle, and then think how you might apply the concept.
I bet your uncle is a smartass.
I used to know a blind guy that was a racist. Really. Ironic.
Have you seen the Dave Chappelle skit featuring a blind white supremacist who is unaware that he is an African-American?
My kids like Chapelle (who I usually can't stand) but this little skit was kind of funny.
We have had conversations in this country about whether it is proper to maintain membership in a golf club that adheres to a racist policy.
Why is it not appropriate to ask about membership in a church with a racist agenda when a candidate submits himself and his children to the indoctrination of the church over a 20 year period?
Trinity Church teaches (despite the 'retirement' of the Rev Wright, the institutional stance is unchanged) a 'Black Value System' based on the 'Black Liberation Theology' of men like James Cone.
The 'retirement' of Wright doesn't fix this, because the entire ministerial staff are similarly committed to the church's 'vision statement'.
Why does Obama not dissassociate himself with TUCC?
Most likely because he agrees with what is taught there, from the senior pastor, on down to the Sunday school teachers.
Don't try to pretend that Obama was 'unaware' until a few weeks ago of the teaching that is the basis of the church's vision statement.
Please. The man is not a dummy.
If a white church taught a 'White Value System' based on the 'White Theology' of some white theologians, who doubts that they would be considered racist?
The only proper first step is for Obama to leave TUCC and completely, systematicly renounce the racist theology it upholds.
Does he have the political courage to do it?
The latest we have heard from him on this is his fib about Wright 'acknowledging' that his statements were 'offensive', when Wright has made no such statement.
Hint: if he were to acknowledge such, it would have to be a public acknowledgement to those he offended, not some secret conversation between Wright and Obama.
As each day passes, Obama is 'Present' among the faithful at TUCC, seemingly unable to make the tough decision to leave it.
My great, great, great grandma was a black woman, but don't tell no one. We keep it a secret.
You miss the whole point Real-- don't you.
