TIME - Biofuel == Crime against Humanity
First thing - Amazon deforestation overshadowed by global warming, hmmm, indeed it has been, because US politicos don't get more power by fixing it, and since they're only concerned about the power they felt no need to include it a as part of the solution to the other thing despite the obvious functional interconnectivity (if global warming even exists). I try to avoid clichés especially the religious ones, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I mean, people think just cuz they have an emotion now and then and mean well and are a good friend and all that crap
We're not mean enough to evaluate our own merit before we start making calls anymore, but we think we're too good to be egoists too - damn Sesame Street.
And the green fuel ain't as eco friendly as everyone who said ?'just let us legislate, and search/seize your tail pipes a bit and all will be well, it really won't affect your daily life, I don't see why you're so concerned' said it would be. Ha! Good thing we didn't elect Gore, I mean, he's against this particular thing, but of the same heavy-handed, soft fascist ilk. Is it not like every time they push something that it's the solution to everything, practical and philosophical, and should be enforced under penalty? I'm neither, but I like the GOP better cause they're easier to disagree with, less of that for-your-own-good-you-sinful-urchin crap I've listened to the Stones too much to palaver with.
And most importantly, and I've been amused/disconcerted by biofuel for this very reason since I first heard of it, what we put in our tank don't get shipped out to feed nobody. I mean, we were screwing ourselves with lead, and I rather like the idea of ancient decayed whatnot from the defunct cradle of civilization, but burning someone's dinner? It is what it is, and that's bad enough, but try to stay with me, even now there is understanding to be gained. Here's where we can separate the geo-socio-economic/political civic heroes that really know what's going on and what we gotta do to stay in business without doing anything too creepy from the ones that are just power-mongering toddlers and led us into this crap like ?'work will set you free'. That's one good thing that'll come of this if we've got the grit to keep our eyes open the whole time. Where's Tinygiraffe at - she read ?'Ishmael' too.
It's bad news. We're going to get such a browbeating from the international community, and the politicos will be telling us what to do with the juice even though we'll be paying for our own. The world's turning into a henhouse - the best hope I think would be space colonization, but it will hurt to get the energy just to get people and start-up equipment out there. How much needs to be pulled from our arms before we get desperate enough to do it? Worse is, will someone legislate moderation and contentment before that? People keep driving Civics and shopping at Dillards we'll never get out of here.
On the other hand, this will get rid of those obsolete, senator-paying farm subsidies we all hate, get us a chunk of GDP ballast, and it will make the countries we support start thinking for themselves (it's not like we weren't manipulating them a bit anyway), and I think life must be reckoned in terms of quality and quantity, in economics as in healthcare. It's what I would want for myself. What I'd like to see happen, and I know it sounds horrible, but so would have ?'screw biodiesel' back when hippies started making it out of french-fry grease and you see where that is leading us, is just for us to go in guns-blazing one more time. Take an increase in value of a product we do well, and some stability finally in our transportation issues, and a chance to have a strong yet un-isolated economy, on face value and let the free market do it's thing. Crime against humanity? Did the parts of humanity in question not crime themselves? I mean, how much can we do, such that it would be too much, to ensure liberty on the other side? This is the nightmare we've been waiting for. Bring it on, I'm an American, I'm ready for it. What resistor is it that throws the signal of an O-2 sensor again?
