Hillary without Bill?

At the beginning of this campaign, I thought that a lot of people supported Hillary out of nostalgia for Bill. It's an easy enough to feel that way. I confess to having the same feelings sometimes.

So here's the question, would you change your mind about Hillary if she was not married to Bill and he had no part in her campaign and wouldn't have any part in her administration?

I am going to abstain from voting but I don't think the prospect of having Bill in the office with her is attractive just because of nostalgia... nostalgia is Elvis memorabilia and time life cd collections.... life was better for most (not all) on his watch...

FreeDuck- You left out an another choice. What about a person who did not plan to vote for Hillary, but if he were to decide to vote for her later, it would not matter if she and Billl were divorced or not?

I think that there are a lot of "undecideds" out there!

If she was not married to Bill, she would not even be in politics. Since she has minimal political experience, she mirrors her opponent. Both are in this race as a result of non political reasons.

eoe- I dunno. When Bill was in office, I always perceived her as "the power behind the throne". Ten years ago, I predicted that she would eventually run for the presidency.

I think that she is shrewd..............maybe a little TOO shrewd.

I've always believed that Hillary is smarter than Bill Clinton. Maybe she made his presidency possible.

I said nothing about her smarts or her shrewdness. She's as boring as watching paint dry and quite frankly, since you mentioned it, the way she assumed her nomination without considering the possibility that she wouldn't get it (staffers living high on the hog, running out of cash, etc.) was not very shrewd or very smart, IMO.

Without him no one would have known who she was all these years to be in the position she is to run for presidency.

I thought that's what nostalgia was -- the longing for a better time. I'm one who has argued that life was better under his watch and that Bush's tenure has made me long for those days again. Sorry if the word nostalgia was somehow demeaning of that, but that's what I meant.

Well, I'm not asking to go back in time and remove him from her life. I'm asking if they got divorced and he had no part in anything she was doing now, does her candidacy look different to you? Can't change the past and all that.

Actually, I would be more inclined to vote for Bill without Hillary, especially if that poor old Arkansas boy could keep his zipper up and his shoelaces tied.

If she got divorced? Still would not change my opinion. She is a snake and will remain so.

FreeDuck -- in the poll, did you mean in the primaries or in the General Elections?

Either. I'm just trying to get a sense of how big a factor Bill is.

Mm. Cause not that it matters, with me not being American and all, but I would never vote for her in the primaries - I'd just as soon vote Mike Gravel. But against a Republican in the general elections, sure; I'd vote for her over McCain, husband or not.
