One can see it as the Republicans control the media. The media will fawn on Barack till he is the Democratic Nominee then watch out as they are preparing the background attacks.
We don't know too much about Barack but the Republicans will dig it out as they comb thru his childhood, background and relationships. His character will be in question as they will portray him as an over-ambitious ingrate. Knowing Hillary helped him in his Senate race and also that it will be Hillary last and only stab at the Presidential race while he can still wait, shows his ingratitude by running hard for the White House even though he is still green with no executive experience.
The demographics are no better. Half his supporters would switch to Hillary while only 10% of Hillary's supporters will switch to him. This is the scenario for the Democrats. Those Independents might be another story as they see a sort block voting pattern in the works with blacks in droves voting for Barack. The Southern whites might go to McCain in response.
McCain is already attacking Barack for the 'left wing' label and being shifty about funding for the Presidential race after being nominated. Barack doesn't hold a candle to McCain's military background.
I read in the Guardian that Hilary Clinton may have caused Obama irreperable damage by saying that McCain has more credentials on national security than he does. That is going to bite the dems and her if she is Obama's vice presidential running mate...
Interesting theory. So, do ya think the Republicans picked Barack out of the field of 8 or so who started the quest for the Dem nomination, or just decided he was the best prospect to run against between him and Hillary?
And, did their "setting up" include arranging for historically large turnouts to the Obama/Clinton primaries (in which more people regularly voted for Obama than voted for all the Repub candidates at one of their primaries combined)? How about the historically large amounts of small donations, adding up to the biggest monthly totals in history for a campaign? The GOP orchestrate that, too?
I mean, while you're theorizing, and stuff...

No. I believe this is Mrs.Bill Clinton setting up Obama for a fall. If it were the Republicans, the media would have been told to hold the story about the wacky pastor until AFTER Obama got the nomination, not before.
a lot interesting theories but you've left out the main reason for any problems Obama may encounter over Reverend Wright
"Lie with dogs, get fleas"
If he had Hillary's experience, he would know that.
I think Obama's stance on guns will turn away most of his independant support (that is if McCain makes that an issue).

no one's denying it.... but he doesn't does he? can we afford to finance his on the job training?
This isn't going to be much fun if you won't play, Bear. Why do my harmless little pokes go right over your head?

Where is Mrs. Bill Clintons experience?
Checkers the Dog spent 8 years in the White House and never lost his bone.
Mrs. Bill Clinton lost her billing records in the White House.
Is Checkers more qualified than Mrs. Bill Clinton?

Ah, sorry, I said harmless but forgot "in good fun". I guess deadpan doesn't work online.
not for we hillary supporters. we're blue collar lesser edumacated....
I didn't know you needed an education to have a sense of humor. I guess if I wasn't sitting up in my Ivory tower with my Harvard education sipping my latte and wearing my Birkenstocks I'd be more in touch with the salt of the earth common man.

You can't afford not to, Bear. You want to see the national debt, already in the stratosphere from one incompetent, be passed to yet another incompetent, who will see to it that it rises faster than a bear pickle at a bar.
