The house was full of native new yorkers (and new jerseyers, a slightly lesser breed, but nice enough) with a great variety in local accents. Wonderful new york stories...many of them had seen Mantle play and three watched OJ set his record. There were no republicans.
Hey, Frank. How the hell ARE you???? You have been sorely missed!
Frank claims he's never coming back........but we all know he's said that often enough. I think he's a little tired of the same old argument........so maybe if he socialized more.........
And wandieeee.......thanks for thinking of dusting. I do hate dust (ask Bernie) but it's understandable that you didn't want to do it yourself and if Spendi wouldn't help.........it would unmotivate anyone.
Happy Valentines everyone.............especially Bernie.
Lola plops on the couch in front of the fireplace......it's been snowing outside..........on Sunday.........never mind now that it's all slush and black nasty ice all piled up on the curbs up and down Manhatten..........it was lovely on Sunday. Lola and Bernie (Lola's valentine) and Bernie's lovely daughter went to Central Park and Lola, and Lola alone slid down the hill at Central Park on her red, yellow and orange, tied dyed sled. On approaching the park, before the hill........Lola and party could hear the children squealing with glee two blocks away..........then after Lola made her journey up the hill and down on her sled........Bernie, Lola's Valentine made Lola give her sled to a child. At first Bernie, Lola's Valentine wanted to abandon Lola's sled, but Lola said no........the sled would have no one to take care of it and it would be lonely.........New Yorkers, being honest as they are, would not take Lola's sled, assuming Lola would return to claim it......not until the next day early would anyone realize that the beloved sled had been in fact abandoned. Lola put her foot down..........they had to find a child or family that truly wanted the sled. Lola began looking for applicants for sled adoption. But, as she pointed out to her beloved Valentine, this was Central Park, Manhattan on Fifth Ave. in the 70s........very few underprivileged children here........so finally Bernie spotted a lovely family with three children and only one sled.....so Lola consented to give the sled to them.....they were very pleased, even though they were far from poor.....but dear Darla, the little girl with a European accent was totally pleased. And Lola let go.........but as Darla walked away with Lola's sled.......the one she bought last Winter, in spite of Bernie's objections.......and stored in her closet all Summer.........as Darla walked away with Lola's sled............Lola cried.
Sitting on the sofa, with the fire simmering pleasantly, Lola wraps herself in her favorite blanket and asks her friends to join her.
Happy Valentine's Day Bernie........and all!
Nice work, blatham. Lola will surely melt when she gazes upon such a vision.
She didn't initially. But then I put on the cowboy boots. Oooooeeee.
I am as melted as the fallen slow..........
<does anybody here really believe Lola melted slow?...hands, please....nope, I didn't think so>
<hand up as high as it can go>
There you go prince.......I knew I had one loyal friend.
Let's see, did I or do I melt slow? Well, that all depends. Still Blatham's valentine to me was sweet and I appreciated it....as long as it lasted. hehe
<all sort of naughty images come to mind post Lola's comment>
I do hope it lasted for a while
well, it lasted for hours.........days even.
It's been a while prince. How are things?
Lola wants to sit down here near the fire on the sofa and smoke a little something. Any takers?
Gus sidles up to Lola, puts his arm around her, and says, "I'll have a toke, baby"
holding my breath............here ya go Gus......it smokes best with this glass of wine.......
Diane pokes her head in the door wanting a contact high. Lola has the all time best connections for certain items.
The night has mellowed immensely. Ahhhh. Goodnight, all you Cafe characters.
If this works this time, here's me in last week's blizzard. It was a record snow fall for New York City. I'm so glad I was here to see it.
