It's not mocking, it's reducto ad absurdum.

Get a brain.

Must've struck a nerve....

That didn't bother you, DrewDad? Seriously?

I don't agree with jasonrest on much but you really don't think that fits the definition of "mocking"?

I think if you're gonna pitch in the major leagues, you best be ready come up against some heavy hitters.

"Poor Barack Obama... He was mocked by Hillary Clinton" doesn't play to me.

I might add, I'm equally turned off by the "Michelle Obama... she isn't a real American" cries that we hear from the Republicans.

I'm equal opportunity when it comes to being amused by tempests in teapots.

Well, I'm not saying "poor Barack Obama," though. I'm just saying that I think it's fair to characterize that video as "mocking." Pretty simple.

Obama's held his own quite well so far and I expect him to continue to do so as the hitting gets heavier and heavier.

I'm sure you're right. I'm not one of those that sees Obama as a lightweight.

I do think some of his supporters (not you) have an unreasonable adoration for him. (I would argue that "How dare she make fun of him?!?!?" is an example of this.)

I guess you would prefer apathy?

Yes! Exactly! If I dislike one extreme, I must be endorsing the opposite extreme.

Except that apathy isn't the extreme opposite of adoration. Apathy was the norm for young voters before Obama came along.

I don't think people are jumping up and down because she "dares" to make fun of him or anything of the kind. My problem, and the problem for most I believe, is the simple fact that these tactics are just what so many are tired of and fed up with and while she tries to position herself as a warrior for change, she continues to wallow in this disingenious, backstabbing, backbiting behavior. And treating the American public like we're just too stupid to see it. It's insulting. Plain and simple. And that's what turns me off most of all about her. That and trying to count her husband's years of experience as her own. How weak is that?

But all Jasonrest said was that Hillary "mocked" Obama. And thats what you called him brainless for.

You really think it's brainless to describe Hillary's little routine here as "mocking"? Cause I dunno, eems like a fairly straightforward description of what she's doing - regardless of whether you mind it or not. Sure, you can say that mocking is part of the game, which a candidate's just gonna have to be able to deal with, but I mean, that's still what it is, no?

If you were really just venting your exasperation with the kind of Obama supporters who seem to feel that noone should ever criticize Obama, there's another small problem: not just that thats not what Jasonrest said, but also that Jasonrest is no Obamaite - he's one of those Ron Paul guys...

OK. "Get a life" or "toughen up" would've been a more precise expression of what I was feeling.

My only thought looking at this is how can this be an effective strategy to win over Obama leaning folks? She is in effect calling them deluded. I suppose there are some folks who would switch votes rather than be mocked, but I suspect most others will just get mad. Maybe she figures if I'm going to lose, I'll call it as I see it.
