The author takes a stab at being an independent thinker:

Quote:
Contrary to popular stereotypes, historians are generally a cautious bunch. We assess the past from widely divergent points of view and are deeply concerned about being viewed as fair and accurate by our colleagues.

Yes, our college campuses are rich in this sort of cattle.

An article today about a 21 year old 'superdelegate' to the Democratic convention informs us that he , a junior in college, (history and poli sci major , no less) has decided to back Obama.

He cited Obama's support from an overwhelming majority of young voters as the major reason for his decision.

Can he think for himself? Probably not.

Is this the part of the conswervative playbook. From the get go, don't acknowledge any facts, use misdirection, go off on inane tangents, do anything to avoid addressing the facts.

A true rovian.

Here's an interesting fact for you - your supposed facts aren't facts at all. They are opinions. You should learn the difference before complaining about people ignoring them.

You are wrong there, facts are facts, opinions are opinions. However, how we go about classifying reality into facts is totally subjective, so you have no right to say that your facts are better than someone else's facts. Also, reality is extremely complex, and not all people operate at the same level. A lot that is factual goes on around us which we can't comprehend, so we will not recognize the facts even when someone points them out.

Then just for kicks we can talk about how your reality is not my reality.
