One of the political parties that coalesced to become the Republican Party of Lincoln in 1860 was the "Know Nothings"---a vehemently anti-Catholic nativist group. The "Know Nothing" platform was largely built around sending the Irish back to Ireland.

And if the Krupps had wanted to produce toasters and electric shaves and curling irons and kitchen blenders, do you really think that the Nazis would have let them?

this one of the"kitchen-appliances" that KRUPP manufactured during WW I .
there was a hefty profit and little competition in the armaments business - little advantage for KRUPP to make toasters .

KRUPP "BIG BERTA" - 42 cm gun - WW I

even though much of KRUPP's factories were disassembled after WW II ,
Krupp rose from the ashes and is now germany's fifth largest business - no mean feat .

i'm sure that flaja is familiar with KRUPS - probably even walmart carries their "kitchen appliances" - slightly different from the "kitchen appliances" made by KRUPP .

We got that as christmas present: I'd never bought it myself (and mother's partner got it cheap from the factory shop  ): too much plastic waste, not a good and larger selection of coffees, not a too good taste ...

The "Know Nothings" or the Irish?

Personally I think that both are--the modern "Know Notings" are demanding that fences be built along the borders. And the Irish--I'm partial to the Irish, god made whiskey so the Irish wouldn't rule the world---and I'm a fan of whiskey.
