but for God's sake, george bush has f**ked up this country to the extent that no matter WHO is elected... they'll be damn lucky to make a DENT in fixing the mess... so now I have to hear about someone he may or may not have f**ked in 2000?

Especially when there's so little evidence that the "relationship" was anything more than standard lobbying.
If McCain did indeed have sex with that woman then he should be executed. There is no place in this country for fun.
This story is being discussed in several threads; but it is not the sex that is the issue but McCain's relationship with the lobbyist and any legislation which may have resulted from that relationship. With his legislation on compaign reform it strikes a hypercriticial note if any link between the lobbyist and any legislation from McCain was to found.

I understand that in theory... but this story would be ignored without the possibility of sex. Without the sex no one would really notice. Add the sex, and that's all we'll hear about for the next few days ad nauseum, so you see it actaully is about the sex. Sorry to use the word sex so much.

he is a she; make it any better? I don't know if it would be ignored since the whole thing is about lobbiest and that is one of McCain's things; maybe ignored by those who don't pay much attention to this sort of thing to start with but the rest would have gotten my attention regardless of the sex angle just like McCain caving on the waterboarding issue has; which I admit hasn't gotten much circulation.

Bear, I would agree with you except for one major reason. If the sex angle didn't exist, the lobbyist favors would not have gotten much attention, which is the most important part of the story. That shy McCain defenders are focusing on the sexy part and trying to avoid the favors part.
McCain would not have to lawyer up with expensive Robert Bennett if it was just about sex. He's scared witless about the lobbyist favors part. Recall that McCain has been through this before several years ago. Remember the Keating kids?
