McCain suffers from cookie-cutter syndrom (among other things). His wife looks just like her...

Quote:
Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship. But to his advisers, even the appearance of a close bond with a lobbyist whose clients often had business before the Senate committee Mr. McCain led threatened the story of redemption and rectitude that defined his political identity.

It had been just a decade since an official favor for a friend with regulatory problems had nearly ended Mr. McCain's political career by ensnaring him in the Keating Five scandal. In the years that followed, he reinvented himself as the scourge of special interests, a crusader for stricter ethics and campaign finance rules, a man of honor chastened by a brush with shame.

But the concerns about Mr. McCain's relationship with Ms. Iseman underscored an enduring paradox of his post-Keating career. Even as he has vowed to hold himself to the highest ethical standards, his confidence in his own integrity has sometimes seemed to blind him to potentially embarrassing conflicts of interest.

The fact that McCain likes to spread himself around a bit to the ladies is not news. He can not be denied the nomination, and most of the country does not care much. He is I would think very happy to get this out of the way now. The moral conservatives can run a third party protest candidate, but I fail to see how that would help their cause. Their time is over for the time being due to the arrogance and incompetence of Bush as well as the general over reaching of the Conservatives on the national political scene. Splintering the GOP as they fall from grace will serve only to keep them powerless for longer, because it would be a reflection upon their character (which has become very suspect anyways).

Conservatives need to shut-up, let McCain be McCain, and figure out where they went so very wrong.

Howard Fineman reports that McCain will issue a denial statement but refuse to answer questions. The Straight Talk Express has been derailed.

Was that for sure a romance? In any case, I don't care. Not why I would or would not vote for someone. Re the lobbying part, interesting, but not all so very.
