Special Agent - have taken some pics but gonna post next week when I'm sitting around at home to try and keep me distracted - so do come by OK. Hope wee Annie is doing well and all the family.

Thank you for thinking of me and my family even with all the challenges you are going through, Izzie.

I am sorry for boasting about all the snowfalls I have experienced in Chicago. The area where you live faces different weather challenges because it is rural and isolated.

@Izzie,
Izzie, I hope you don't think that just 'cause you're the Captain of this motley crew we expect you to keep a stiff upper lip at all times! We all need to vent sometimes. (I myself am building up to a major rant so keep your head down for the next few days.) The tooth is fine, thanks -- looks good but more important is stronger -- gotta deal with those stubborn beer bottle caps somehow Wink

Brooke, I think you need another snow day. Give yourself a few hours of totally wasted time -- you deserve it!

Mystery Man if I ever need someone "talked to" -- I'm gonna call you first.

Beth, the hafla sounds like fun (are you only in the audience tonight, or participating as well?)

Hope everyone in Oz is safe.

Greetings to the rest of the crew. Hope you're having a good day. (We're starting to defrost here -- YAY!)

@wandeljw,
Hi, all! Love the way you remember all of us, Iz-! You are the best cap'n a crew could ever ask for!
Teen queen is definitely on the mend. Ate dinner yesterday after not much all week & took a shower this morning. She and her brother are torturing each other in the lovely kidding way siblings will that can drive parents mad!
She and I have been reading the last Harry Potter book, well, I've been reading to her, and I can't help but do it in a British accent. It just doesn't sound right otherwise, so I just can't help but think of all of you over in the snow.
Hope all of my friends are safe and well, whether in the snow and cold or very hot. Thank goodness DeeDee is safe from the fires and will continue to do so. We're actually getting a reprieve from the cold right now. It's above freezing and it's melting! Should be this way through the most of next week until the cold comes back.
Love y'all. Hope you and yours are well or on the mend!
Special hugs to Brooke - hang in there, baby! Thinking of you. And to wv as you continue your work in academia.
Izzie

@wandeljw,
Hey Special Agent - ahhhhhhh... we are just not used to having snow and the forecasters didn't get it correct - for us to get 2 feet (ha..... that's funny) in our area is just quite unbelievable. I haven't ventured out on the roads to go take a look on the moors coz there's too much ice - maybe tomorrow tho as we have thawed a little today. Lovely to see you here. x

Dev - ahhhhhhh - my friend in Texas, Kel, has to do a British accent when we talk - she makes me laugh so much - we really aren't as posh sounding as people think we are - but she sounds very Queenie when she speaks Brit. ( I don't sound too British I don't think - I twang all over the place). Glad Thing1 is doing better - back to school next week - thing is, at her age, they end up missing a lot in a week - but, there's not much you can do when they are poorly sick. She'll no doubt be happy to be back with her pals too. Hugs to y'all there. x

@Izzie,
Yay, Iz-, you sound pretty well! Very Happy I hope that's so. You mentioned your friend, but I bet I could do a fair impression of your accent. Strangely enough I studied all kinds of accents in an acting class and have an ear for picking up what I hear! Now I REALLY can't wait to meet you! Wink
Yes, I'm glad Thing 1 is on the mend. She'll be alright mostly. We're a bit concerned about algebra and are probably going to have to get her a tutor. And yes, she can't wait to get back to her friends. One e-mailed her to say that she had to be at school on Monday, because she couldn't bear starting another week, another Monday morning without her. I'n't that sweet. My girl is well loved. Very Happy
Keep warm & cozy & have a cuppa for me. It's ALMOST too warm here for it! Wink

@devriesj,
Good morning crew. Been following the tragic bush fires in the State of Victoria live on television. So far there have been 25 confirmed deaths but this number is expected to rise once authorities are able to enter the ravaged areas safely. At present dozens of fires still rage out of control however the searing heat of yesterday has been replaced by a cool change with even some rain in Melbourne. It is estimated more than 100 homes have been destroyed but this number is also expected to rise dramatically once the full extent of the fires become known. I understand the 3 A2K members in Victoria are all safe and well although out of touch with the outside world at the moment because of power failures.

@mismi,
Morning all. Horrible day here yesterday. So scary. 25 people have died in Victoria from the fires and they expect to find more casualties when they can access certain areas. We had smoke blanketing us from the fires around us but thank heavens our little area is untouched as yet. Had all the precautions ready - fire pumps primed, all cars facing the right way for quick exit, cat cages ready, etc. etc. but it is still a big decision whether to go or stay and fight. Bit of relief here today with the weather much cooler and some rain is falling which should help to bring the fires still burning under control. Fires now burning out of control in New South Wales as well.

Hugs to all.

Oh DeeDee...I don't think I realized you were in that area...please forgive my ignorance! So very happy you are safe! Thoughts and prayers that those fires are stopped by the rain and cooler weather. So sad about the lost lives.

Take care of yourself...keep us updated..
hugs,

@Izzie,
Hi crew, it is now 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon and the news from the fires in Victoria is getting worse, now officially 49 deaths and over 640 homes destroyed, numerous fires are still burning out of control and losses will get bigger. Indeed a very sad day for what is claimed to be on of the the worst bush fires in that State.

@verbivore,
Hi verbivore, sorry to report that since my last post the death toll has now risen to 65 and expected to rise further with a number of people with life threatening burns in various hospitals around the State.

@Dutchy,
hi, Izzie, yes, H and K managed to get here, thanks - we haven't had the threatened extra helpings of snow and ice - and it was lovely to see them. Hope you are OK.

Dutchy - the news about the fires is very grim - and must be devastating so many people with connections to the areas affected.

Hi to all the crew from chilly UK. x

@Izzie,
Good morning crew and passengers,
Its 7:40 on Sunday morning here, and I'm watching the news.
They just reported on the Oz fires, and I can symapthize with what you all are going thru.
I grew up in Southern California, and am very familiar with wildfires and the hell they can cause.
The news reported that nothern Oz is geting flooded by rains, shame that rains wont go south.

We are being told that the unusual warmth here will cause tornado watches next week.
We went from ice storms and freezing cold to tornado watches. It seems we skipped spring this year.

Today is going to be a lazy day, with me doing as little as possible.
I'm going to do laundry, but nothing else today.

Izzie,
You have every right to get a little crazy and vent sometimes.
That cliche about the Brits and their "stiff upper lip" is pure hogwash and we all know it.
Go out, get yourself so drunk that you have to be carried home, and just generally raise some hell.
You will feel much better (after the hangover goes away).

Dev,
It sounds like your daughter has the same "creeping crud" that Stacy has had all week.
I am glad to see her getting better, because it has to be tough on you with her being sick.

Now I have a favor to ask all of you.
Stacy has joined Facebook, and is looking for some friends.
I sent her name to Izzie, but if any of the rest of you would be so kind, her name is Stacy Slaton and any friends she can get would be appreciated.
I would be eternally in your debt.

I will talk to all of you later, but dont be afraid to use my e-mail if you want.

Izzie
