@Izzie,
Iz,
You won't be showing those ropes to anyone Razz sorry but serves them right for getting someone in who doesn't know what they are doing.

You are gonna stay in and relax, meditate, roll in the snow, make snow angels just relax. I hear if you need me I could try skiing down the hill if I had a pair of skies! got a skate board though or a go cart do you think that would work?

speak soon

@verbivore,
Hey Crew..

very quickly.... Tulip are you still there. I am still trying to get hold of County, so have to keep the phone free - we have about 5 inches too - it's actually pretty nasty out there - got some ice falling too. Can't get out the conservatory door as the snow is way up the door. None of our little roads have been salted - it's lethal with the ice. S-boy is at school - I have no idea if I'm going to get home him home today - they have been hit a lot harder than we have (can you imagine the conversation with his father - cr*p - not looking forward to that.... mind you - he's up in London so he might not get back to the South West either Razz ) The A386 is closed and Blackdown is cut off. Haven't had that for about 20 years methinks. Major rescue on the A38 going on by Dartmoor Rescue where a foot of snow has fallen. Don't think there is any chance at all that I can get up to you - make sure you keep the heating on hun and get some bread and milk from across the road, in case it settles in. Think it's meant to ease off a little tomorrow.

Now.... gotta see if I can get thru to County again. Audit cancelled... nem'mind a Wink

Back a bit later.

Crew - I love y'all and am thinking about you. Thanks for being here. x

@annis,
Even our Koalas are feeling the heat and came out of the tree for a drink. With todays maximum of 44C/111F many came into suburban areas looking for water. Snow and heat, amazing world isn't.

@verbivore,
Hey Vbv

I would so love you to see snow - It is really beautiful, but just so difficult to get around in.
Luckily I got back from Germany and the airports were open last night although they have been shut this morning and I am nice and warm at home so all is OK.

Iz - keep strong honey - I am with you all the way - and at least you have missed the audit today - news looks horrific round Okehampton - just stay inside and dkeep warm - S boy will be fine even if he has to stay at school - no heroics to try to collect him.

Dutch - I loved the photos of the Kanga and the Koala - amazing how the weather humanises them!

To all in the heat or snow - have a fantastic weekend - Mis, big hugs to you and yours - whoever is sad - remember one of us is always thinking of you.

Keep smiling and big hugs

I agree with the Black and Strong............ coffee as well!! - MM x

@verbivore,
verb-, sorry you're ill. We've got the nasty stuff here too. It's just confined to Thing1. Thank goodness. She's missed a whole week of school, but she's getting better bit by bit.
MY dream is to visit Europe as well! ... and all far flung places of the world! I'm a traveler in my heart and really hope to do it some day! And, hey, I'd love to read your blog, verb-! Message me on facebook & I'll take a look, 'k? Bummer you can't facebook at work! Blah!!
Dutch-, what an amazing place you live! Loved the 'roos & koalas! And not a hint of snow! Evil or Very Mad
Iz-, Annis, FQ, wv (?) How strange it is that in Britain the snow has stopped everything and that it's actually warming up here. It's actually supposed to be above freezing for about the next week!
Hugs, wv!
Try- , you never cease to amuse me, you funny, funny guy! Very Happy

I am surprised that England has had little experience with snow. Here in Chicago we had sixteen inches of snow on one day both in 1967 and then again in 1979. In 1999, 18 inches of snow fell on one day (January 2, 1999). I have lived in Chicago since 1958.

@wandeljw,
Strolling along the deck, enjoying the seascapes and saying hi to everyone on board. Thankfully this week's snow/ice has largely gone from here today - BUT more is expected in next few days. Hope my son and his fiancee can get to my place tomorrow evening for a meal and a natter as it was great when they did that last Saturday night.

Dev - thx for remembering me. Hope your offspring is finally better.
Dutchy - envying your early morning walks along the beach so much. Those pics of the kanga were so memorable. Glad your excessive heatwave is nearing the end.
VBV - hope you are feeling better now. I'll msg you in a day or so.
Mis - you are always so busy! Are you on FB? I'd love more contact if possible.
Tulip and Izzie - so glad you have each other close in every sense and hope all is bearable today at least.

And hugs to all our wonderful crew. Off to watch a tv prog now - called Golden Balls. Any UK people watch it? It's rubbish but relaxing - a game show involving bluff, lies, persuasion etc - I am amazingly unperceptive with some of the contestants! Just love seeing what people are capable of. T xxx

@wandeljw,
Good Morning all yous!

It is cold BUT IT IS SUNNY! makes a big difference. HUGE.

Iz - still thinking about you...take care of yourself. Thoughts and prayers - always Smile

I always thought it snowed a lot in Britain as well...can't tell you why I thought that though.

Hugs to Dev...hope your little one feels better soon. I still have S at home since he ran fever last night...but he doesn't feel bad right now - which is good. He seems quite perky.

Dutchy - stay cool - keep that beer fridge full! Wink

Glad you are home safe and sound FQ - have a great weekend!

I need to go get some things done...

hugs to you all

R-A-N-T ( just fair warning )

I care not about anything. I'm tired of school. Tired of people in my life that can't understand me. I'm tired of being pushed at school. I'm tired of being pushed outside of school. I'm tired of no sleep. ( Just went 41 hours without it this week) THAT is how intense that this PHD is right now. No time for sleeping. NO time for people getting in my face socially. Wanting things that I either have no time to give them - or I just can't, emotionally. Tired of being blamed for that, and tired of being put down for that. F*ck it, cause I'm done, too.

Christmas break had it's own trauma. Not exactly a relaxing 3 weeks. Then the past 30 days has been hell. My degree has gotten extremely intense. Homework handed out, like candy. Every flipping class. Just like every professor thinks that his/her class is your OWNLY class. Add my car accident into that equation, and a weeks worth of the flu. Throw in the assistantship, which is keeping me mega busy on campus. Throw in my job. Throw in the 4 hours sleep a night that I get (if I'm lucky). Can't forget to toss in all the other crap that is nothing to do with school.....and I'm just tired. No, I'm exhausted. Physically and emotionally.

Oh...but I did have part of the day on Sunday to relax. Did I say, relax? That word is hardly in my vocabulary these days. Still ...I did have a little time to regroup. But ya know what? There was a price to pay for that. And I paid it ...for thinking of "me" and not someone else. How dare I?

W-H-A-T ~ T-O ~ D-O

I can either drop out of school. Which would be silly. I can either drop out of this quarter and just extend my degree. Or I can suck it up. Sucking it up is what I keep telling myself to do. Or I can go out tonight and tie one on. Perhaps that is what I need. Though it will not solve anything. It will for just a little while.

Today, I am standing back and looking at everything. Trying to find a reason to care. I find none. Really. I find none. How f*cked up is that??? Good gawd, I am sitting with A's in every single class. I should be grateful for that, at least. But I am so burned out. With everything. And I mean ...everything.

Over...

Out

PS- No worries needed. No comments needed. I will be fine. I always am. I just needed to scream a little. Thank you

Going to go bury my head in the sand now.

Hello folks, as y’all know I hanker to be taken seriously as a writer; how many of you have read:

Reservoir Zonation of Lower Cretaceous Deep-water Limestones in the Danish North Sea "
Or even:
New Insight from Improved Core-to-Log Correlation "

Eggzackly! I nowed my spelin un grramer ain’t up two mutch; butt deed u reed about…

The time Wandel went to his local bar and spots a pretty looking woman sitting on the stool. He mustered all his courage for long time, then timidly approached and asked her, "Ma’ am, would be OK if sit here and talk evolution with you?"

Dev was alert, suspecting this man, and responds by yelling, "No, I won't sleep with you tonight!" Customers in the bar started staring at them. Highly embarrassed, Wandel quickly returns to his table dejected and ashamed.

Dev waits a little and then goes to him to apologize. With a smile on her face she says, "I am sorry if I embarrassed you. You see, I am a student of psychiatry and I am putting together a thesis on how people react to embarrassing moments."

The loveable Wandel now yells loudly, "What do you mean you’ll do it for $500?"…

Those two just crack me up.

Anyways; as you probably know, if you want to practice medicine, you have to swear the Hippocratic Oath; which is an oath traditionally taken by physicians pertaining to the ethical practice of medicine.

Well, I had my fingers crossed at the time and only mumbled the first few bars of Yankee Doodle Dandy; you know, the version with the chorus:

Yankee Doodle keep it up,
Yankee Doodle dandy,
Mind the music and the step,
And with the girls be handy.

You will therefore understand why I simply cannot name the crew member who…

Went into her doctor's office and confessed to an embarrassing problem. "I do that all the time, Doctor, but they're soundless, and they have no odor. In fact, since I've been here, I did it no less than twenty times. What can I do?"

"Here's a prescription, Mrs. *****. Take these pills three times a day for seven days and come back and see me in a week."

The following week an upset Mrs. ***** marched into the office. "Doctor, I don't know what was in those pills, but the problem is worse! I'm doing it just as much, but now it smells terrible! What do you have to say for yourself?"

"Calm down, Mrs. *****," said the doctor soothingly. "Now that we've fixed your sinuses, we'll work on your hearing!!!"

I understand self promotion is strictly prohibited by dictate, and therefore verboten; however, should the need arise; I am available for discreet consultations!

Thank you for all your pictures; it makes chewing thru the retaining straps worthwhile!

Whoa Brooke; you are just normal! Look around you at the also ran’s who are gonna get through!

You have set your own standards so high; don’t be surprised if they sometimes feel outta reach. Do what’s the best for YOU. If anybody doesn’t understand that; leave them behind. Don’t give in now; if others can manage, you will excel…Go Brooke!!!
