Reading along, looking at pix, watching the fun.

Tuesday and I'm already looking forward to the weekend. Another good concert coming up - I love it once the concert season gets going. Friday night, brendalee and I will be off to "participate in"

The Praetorius Christmas Vespers

Singers, violins, cornetti, sackbuts, theorbos and keyboards arranged around the balconies and stage of Trinity-St. Paul’s Church, recreating the joyful celebration of Christmas Vespers as it might have been heard under the direction of Michael Praetorius in 17th-century Germany - this lavish Toronto Consort Yuletide offering has become a beloved Toronto tradition. In the spirit of celebration, the audience will join with the assembled musical forces in singing favourite Christmas carols. A Christmas concert like no other!

this is usually my favourite concert of the season

I'm feeling giddy already Very Happy

@ehBeth,
That sounds wonderful Beth....okay "sackbut" - I forget about that horrendously named instrument...but I looked it up on Wikpedia (I know - questionable - but it seems like it makes sense to me)
Quote:

There are two theories for the source of the name: it is either derived from the Middle French sacquer (to push) and bouter (to pull) or from the Spanish sacar (to draw or pull) and bucha (a tube or pipe) (Herbert 2006, p. 57). The term survives in numerous English spelling variations including sacbut, sagbut, shagbolt and shakbusshe. In France, the instrument was called sacqueboute; in Germany, Posaune, in Spain, sacabuche, and in Italy, trombone.

basically - trombone....I wonder how different it sounds from the trombone? Am awfully curious.

I am off to work. My yard is all Christmassy - I am tired though.....blah.

I hope y'all have a great day - I will see you later maybe!

@Izzie,
Sorry for the misunderstanding Captain, enjoy it just the same. Izzie must tell you about my two little trees, they're full of fruit, can't believe my eyes, must be all that TLC I'm giving them. How lovely is that. Will get the camera out in due course and see if I can match you in detail photography. Smile

@Izzie,
It's been one of those days. We had a friend over after school...he was here 5 minutes then busted his head open on a book case. I feel horrible...I think he is going to have to have stitches - his Mom came over and got him and is taking him to the dr. now. Boys...

Heads bleed a lot - it's everywhere. Poor baby. He was okay until his mom said he needed to go to the dr and get stitches...then he started wailing - Poor poor little boy.

Well...I am beat. I am going to go clean up and maybe I will see you all later...

@mismi,
Oh dear Mis.... poor wee fella - boyz...... it's bad enough when it's your own but there's a hugely horrible feeling when it's another child at your house - you probably feel worse right now than the boy and the mom put together... heads do bleed heaps, but he will be fine hunni. Kids are so resilient as well - far more so than we are - he'll be quite proud of his patched up head. Don't worry sweet Dixie - boys certainly will be boys. x

@mismi,
One of my kids just asked me what a douche bag was - I have to say I am not sure exactly. Don't want to know really. I just told him it didn't sound like something he should use anymore. It truly is an ugly phrase isn't it? yikes.

@mismi,
Douche Bag

Douche bag, or simply douche, is considered to be a pejorative term in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the Philippines, and the United States. The slang usage of the term dates back to the 1960s. The metaphor of identifying a person as a douche is intended to associate a variety of negative qualities, specifically arrogance and malice.

@djjd62,
Thanks dj - I knew what a douche was - just not a douche bag and I just didn't want to explain it to an 8 year old quite honestly.

@mismi,
Hey Mis,

Waiting is hard. Your imagination is left to fill in the blanks when wondering how it's going.

Friend will be fine. By tomorrow he'll be showing off his stitches at school.

Hugs, hun. To you and to little friend.
