Hi Izzie, just for you, I went outside and made a couple of photo's of your babies, as you can see Lemon tree is growing and growing, and Orange tree is in full bloom. My camera work is not as brilliant as yours but I'm learning. Smile

@Izzie,
Hi All

Sorry for the trauma - I have got my poorly hubby back home from hospital and in bed and just read him all your healing posts from the thread!! - They mean so much to us both - Thank you so much!
Izzie is as close ( if not closer) to a blood sister than I could ever have - we are each others' conscience and thoughts and I know she has been worried sick the past couple of days.
All I can say is thank goodness for German engineering - it certainly saved his life - when I saw the car, I was amazed that no one had been killed - poor kids - they were fascinated by the Accident and Emergency dept in hospital, watching the delightful sights that come into A & E on a Friday night!! - Quite an eye opener for them!

And I even shocked myself - normally the biggest drama queen in the world - I stayed amazingly calm and focused and didn't fall to bits - amazing what you have to do when the situation arises.

I really appreciate all your kind words guys - love the beautiful photos of Autumn - it is beautiful here - colours are amazing.

Will keep you up to date on the progress - K says that he has now retired from his job as a crash test dummy!!! - typical him!

Love you all

FQ xx

@FlavourQueen,
He has a great sense of humor FQ - that will get both him and you far! So glad he is home now. You and Iz are precious. So glad she has you there.

Well, busy day ahead. I may be able to drop in later. We will see...

Just wanted to wish you all a happy day - or restful night!

Go SOX!
Hugs,
Missy

Good morning Izzie. Magnificient picture of the mushroom. So delicate.
Dutchy. Nice trees. How mature are they?
ehBeth. Beautiful dogs. Lucky dogs. I knew a dog named Penny once, that resembled your first picture.
mysteryman. I've driven through Kentucjy many times. Gorgeous landscape. Good whiskey.
Hello Tryagain. Have you hit the hot sauce bottle lately?
Hello deedeex. Hope today finds you well.
devriesj. Are your kids getting fired up for halloween? What are you going to do with all that leftover candy, that they're not going to eat? Buddy ole pal.
Hello mismi. Did U.T. win? I feel your pain. Michigan football is rich in tradition. I can remember......anyway. Tough year for the wolves.

Izzie. Good eyes. I composted last years pumpkin. I had a small patch grow out of the garden onto the lawn this year. It yielded eight, gave half away.

Oh Alex, your talk of gardens and other pictures of fall leaves drove me into the back yard where the morning sun was so hot it had me down to a tee shirt in no time, it seems my cutie neighbor had the same idea, so seeing those ‘Daisy Dukes’ I decided to lend a hand as it would be a good time to get to grips with that butt while the sunlight painted the scene with its pale dappled glow… (Please excuse me for a moment, for I do fear I have swallowed a copy of Charlotte Brontës Jane Eyre English novel)…

Well, back to the butt; you know how it is, after a while it tends to need a bit of loving care and attention and it doesn’t quite perform how you would like, but first I had to roll it gently over so I could get to the end. Anyway, I was gonna just use a soapy sponge, but then I thought what the heck, why not give it a good going over with something a little stiffer.

Anywho, to keep it short; after a bit of pushing and pulling, not to mention rolls and wobbles, the yard brush had done its work and the water butt looked as good as new!

Oh, as for my neighbor; I told him he would look better in jeans. What Jean had to say; one can only guess.

Dear sweet Missy asks, “So how's my hillbilly doing?”

So kind, thoughtful and loving to ask; better than none, worst than most.

May I be so bold as to enquire as to your present demeanor?

You know - I miss old times when you would come on and pester me at least once a day.”

Oh those were the carefree days of our youth, btw; I don’t speak French but ‘pester’ means ‘making out’ right!

I so squandered the time, why, I dread hitting thirty and knowing it’s the end of the road.

Lizzy, your family tree gets more complicated by the day. Now, let me see if I have this right; your sis is married to your bro! Do you know Cletus whose uncle is only 16?

BTW: Thanks for the songs, the sound card isn’t working; but I mimed along to them with gusto.

It’s no wonder the men folk all seem to have colds; Set don’t wear socks!!!

Until next we dream perchance to meet; don’t accept any wooden nickels.

@alex240101,
Good morning crew, new week has started here, hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
Marvelous news about your husband FQ, now you can play Florence Nightingale and get him back on his feet with lots of tlc.
Alex my trees were planted a little over 12 months ago and doing well, lemon tree bore two fruits during the winter here.

@annis,
annis - there you are - I was scrolling back, looking for you, but you were right beside me here!

yes, my little old girl dog is sweet - age has truly mellowed her and let her natural humour shine through. The old boy dog has become more confident and courageous as the years have gone by. There's something wonderful about how a rescue dog can live and love.

@ehBeth,
Yep I noticed them cabbage! Mine got eaten by caterpillars! Good on you Dutch!

Well the boys and the girls really enjoyed the fair and carnival, they went to the fair and had loads of rides! Bought candy floss and sweets, we feasted on chips and juice but really enjoyed enjoyed themselves. They had great fun! I took the girls to a boot fair today and they run a stall and managed to earn some money! Great learning curve for them! But boy was I shattered, have a few really bad mouth ulcers, so now am suffering a little, but am sure it will heal soon.

Wishing you all a good eveningX

@annis,
Hi EhBeth and Annis, you have good eyes, they are red cabbages and destined for our table before long, not quite ready. In my other patch I have rows of beans which will be sprouting in about a week and we'll be eating them right through summer. Labour intensive though as I have to water them by hand because of the severe water restrictions we have in place!

Menai Harvey World Travel had advertised a 36 day adventure in Canada and Alaska doing a 22 day motorhome trip from Seattle to Anchorage along the Alaska Highway, then a 7 day cruise down from Anchorage to Vancouver, doing the inland passage of Alaska.

I thought that would allow me to see Canada at leisure, so I jumped at the chance to go and test my brand new 2009 Winnebago Vectra. It also gave me the opportunity to take along my faithful old retriever dawg called Mutt.

On the way I stopped off at the frozen Kasba Lake, which is a lake in the northern Canadian wilderness for a spot of duck hunting and fishing. Mindful to be careful with the Winnebago, I parked it on thick ice well away from the hole I was gonna blow in the ice so I could fish.

Now, to prove I aren’t foolish, I had a long fuse on the dynamite so I could run well away from the blast. I lit the fuse and threw it out towards the middle of the lake and turned and ran like hell clutching my shotgun towards the shore.

Little did I realize my dopy dawg thought this a new game and went running after the fizzing dynamite, by the time I stopped to get my breath he had the bundle in his mouth and was running back after me!

Holey schmoly; what could I do? I started to fire at him but it was only birdshot at 100 yards so it wouldn’t hurt a fly, but I was mighty pleased when he at last did turn away, but my joy was short lived. Now don’t get me wrong if I had to decide if my $297,619.00 passion wagon was worth more to me than that mangy mutt!

Time, like the fuse was getting short when a grizzly bear chanced upon the scene and spooked the dawg who ran and hid under my pride and joy…I called out in anxious but loving tones, the dawg looked up and hit his head on the hot exhaust pipe and with a yelp dropped the dynamite and ran over to where I was standing.

Approximately five seconds later there was a hole in the ice where previously my beloved home had stood. Before I could even begin the grieving process and kick the dawg the grizzly was loping across the cracked tundra. Fearing the end was nigh I began to recite my recipe for Sticky funky monkey toffee pudding; when all of a sudden the dawg charged at the bear and scared him off but not before he got swiped and hurt his paw, so I carried him back to town in my arms.

I was asked if I was angry that he had blowed up the Winnebago; nah I said, a Bago is good for a few weeks a year; a dawg is for life.

Mind you, when I made out my first months payment of $507 bucks it did make me paws for thought!

Good to see you having fun Annis; gargle with salt water.
