I was just thinking about that.

Packaged up some hats for Roberta - I apparently think hats are required for problem-solving or something like that -

Problem solving, no. A gigantic bald spot where they were gonna shave my head. Yes.

I wore those hats and others until the bald spot was unbalded.

I also wore scarves and bandanas.

My head was never so well dressed. The rest of me? Not so much.

@Roberta,
Who'd be looking at the rest of you with fab hats? Smile I am sure the rest of you is just fine though. I was always told a great new "do" would draw the eye up and away from my rather large rump.

It's like those neon shoes the kids are wearing these days....I can't see anything but their feet....

I am not sure if that is a good or a bad thing though. Wink

....maybe I should buy a pair

I'm a hat person...I have several in the car for emergencies. Part of living in Oz, I guess - where the sun is pretty fierce.

When I was in Adelaide visiting Deb, last November, we both bought hats at some market - and I was already travelling with one hat - for watching cricket in the roasting sun.

I don't have Bethie's panache with hats, though! Sad

Car accident. Deer didn't make it. Some men stopped and killed it for me as i held it down. Sickening. Shaken, cold and bloodied, not mine, the poor deer. I feel absolutely horrible, so horrible.

Car left front wrecked, not much left of it. Garage coming to pick it up. Going to bed for a good cry. What a horrible day.

@Izzie,
Oh dear, poor love. You take it easy. These things happen. At least it wasn't a horse, so it won't make its way into schooldinners.

Izzie, I'm sorry. Poor deer.
I was lucky not to have that happen to me in our well forested northern california area.

Rest.

Our Izzie knows that I have been where she has been. The trauma after a wreck is earth shaking, and considering the terrible episode of the deer, makes it even more traumatic. Still haven't gotten my car fixed. Sad

@Izzie,
Strewth - you've been through a lot Izzie. I've just read your thread about basal cell carcinoma and couldn't take my eyes off the screen until I'd read every word of it. I was left wanting to know more - what was wrong with your feet (I seem to recall having seen a photo of them, perhaps earlier on Yabber-Liner?), and how is the Lupus behaving. Did you follow up that thread with another?

I can't walk very much at all. I had a cycling accident a long time ago, and smashed a kneecap - long story, but basically I reject metal and four years of ops failed to heal me - in the end I just had the remnants of the patella removed, leaving me with some walking problems, but still mobile. However, an arthriscopy on the other knee, then osteo-arthritis really stopped me from walking far. I get out and about to the park, shopping, even round the garden, on an assortment of aids - like the aforesaid scooter, plus a brilliant wheeled garden seat that can be propelled with the feet. It hit me hard at first - I was a very active person who swam, cycled, worked - but I just had to accept it and cope in other ways. Still love living and life! Smile

I'm so glad that I came to the Yabber-Liner when I did - fate or what? I'd been on the crossword puzzling thread for a couple of years and didn't even think of looking around further until Dutchy gave me a link elsewhere. It is indeed a wonderful community of people - I've appreciated that more than ever in the past few days.

eBeth - you did make me laugh! I absolutely adore the hat you sent me - just my style! Always glad of an excuse to wear a big brimmed hat and red is one of 'my' colours! And the photos of you in a selection of hats are priceless! Especially the early one with sunnies, long hair and flares!!! Cool Oh do please post some more - absolutely adorable! Between you, you've really cheered me up. How can I possibly stay fearful and gloomy with such wonderful people within the click of a mouse! Laughing

@Izzie,
Oh no! Just seen this - how awful for you, you dear sweet person.

How dreadful that you had to help when the deer was put out of its misery. Poor silly creatures; how I wish they wouldn't leap out in front of cars in what seem like suicidal bids to get elsewhere. Not your fault, I'm sure, and a horrendous thing for you to have witnessed. Do try to put it out of your mind and get some rest. Soon be tomorrow - never quite as bad the next day, the awful memory of it all will lessen. I hope your car can soon be mended. Please don't blame yourself for the animal's death. At least you had the decency to care for it at the end - more than so many motorists do!

@vonny,
Ms Vonny, don't you go thinking you are contributing to any flats.. I mean high heels hurt ok Wink I enjoy chatting away with you, catching your sense of humor and discovering common interests .... I'm all good with the known, not so with the un-known, well except for ghosts which my cat believes that there is one, in our house !!

Internet still down at home, but coffee tastes the same in the shop Wink

Izzie, I remember crying allll the way home (2hrs) not that many years ago, after hitting a rabbit (we don't have deer).. Fate is fate, we can not stop it and the little thing knows you were there, that you didn't just leave.... Please don't cry...

Ehbeth... Beautiful... in choices and looks, they suit you.... More please Smile

Hugs to all... Must take a day off and feel girly again, tired..... worried and tired....

NEWS OF OUR BOSUN

GOOD NEWS

Danny's had a very rough couple nights, cumlinating in the written words "this is cruel, I've had enough"

they gave him some sleeping tablets and he had a big sleep and awoke to a better world.

Next day: He saw his son. He was so happy.

He's also asked for his sister to visit - huge step as he's been refusing all visitors.

Since then, he's eaten a little custard, a little icecream (they have to suck it back out when it gets stuck) but he has had a little taster. YAY (trach is still in so he can't eat properly but this is a huge step)

He's also started flirting with the nurses - hahahahahha - we hope that this is a good sign that our Danny boy will soon be back in town... well, at least it's a step in the right direction to get to him to a more positive space.

So pleased for them. I also asked Anna to tell him some of my news. I can't write it out now but I do believe it will make a difference to Danny when he hears it and tomorrow, then I shall say it out loud here.

Tonight is Danny's night - and the road to recovery and HOPE, HOPE is truly amongst us all as we sail tonight.

Thank you for all your kindness re this morning. Tomorrow it will all become clear.

I must go to bed. It's been an emotionally charged day - surreal.

I believe... life had already changed for me a long time ago, now there will be even greater peace.

Night night crew

and thank you - near and far, BIG LOVE with hearts, on this starry, starry night xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

@Izzie,
Bahahahaha.. That is the Dutchy we know, a big flirt Smile

Thank you Izzie, about to go back home so glad I read this first.

And, can't wait to hear what it is that seemingly bought a step to your walk as we know Dutchy's news bought a smile to your face... So pleased after the day you had.

Beth, you look adorable in your array of hats; one for every occasion. Kinda reminds me of the time I asked Missy why she bought so many hats, “Whenever I'm down in the dumps I buy myself a new hat.” She said. - Oh, so that's where you get them!

To cheer you up Missy, now your children are teenagers you should have a dog –
So at least someone in the house is happy to see you. x

Dear Vonny, so sorry to read of your distressing health news; but a problem shared is a problem halved and the crew here have an excellent record of assistance and support you are in good hands.

Just a word of warning; when my neighbor had an operation on her protuberance they put it back upside down - Every time she sneezed her hat blew off.

Oh deer Izzie, so pleased you are not hurt after such a distressing incident. There is nothing you could have done to avoid the incident, the deer is at peace and the fender can be repaired; it is not a cross you have to bear.

Just remember what Dutchy had to say on the subject:
What do you get when you cross a bear with a deer?

Beer!

Although I would suggest you do as I do and keep some cigarettes in the vehicle, because when I ran over a pig – I found smoked cured it!

Keep on truckin’ crew x
