@spendius,
I love tennis, but I love football equally if not more! Give me Newcastle beating anybody at the moment!!! As a Geordie in exile (no accent - never had one) how could I fail to support any other team?

@Izzie,
Andy was good, Novak was excellent. I love the game too - wish we had a Nadal, a Federer, or a Djokovic here in the UK.

I'm a newcomer to the Yabber-Liner but know Dutchy from crossword puzzling - my best wishes and most positive thoughts go out to him - and to his family at this time.

@mismi,
Hey Mis

Will be calling MrsBEAgle in a few hours - need to make sure I don't waken her too early on Wed morning (Oz time, it's nearly 5am) as it would have been a verra long day yesterday and I imagine lots of phone calls with the family.

Will let you know as soon as ...

You could try having a bet on their opponents.

They pulled a good stroke selling that striker to Liverpool eh what?

The trouble with the NE is that the Wags of the top players won't go there. I was billeted with a Geordie for 5 months and I could no more tell what he said on the last day than on the first.

I saw Dylan in Newcastle. St James's Park. He was mystical. He sang I and I like a Medicine Man going off on one.

He had come from a tour on the Continent and he told the audience, stroking his chin meaningfully, it was good to be back where they spoke English.

@spendius,
They are playing now! We have a mainly French squad now, so be interesting to see how soon they learn to speak Geordie! I never did myself - can understand it but can't manage to speak it - not an easy dialect, even actors say one of the hardest to master.

Love it that we sold Carroll to Liverpool for so much money! But he'd be happier going back home - wish they'd let him return. He's learnt his lesson now and wouldn't stray again.

Too true about the Wags - but they are missing a lot - a great city and wonderful countryside and beaches.

Wish I'd seen Dylan up there!!!

@FOUND SOUL,
I think many people must share your anxiety - reading back to early posts on this and other sites shows just how many people care about Dutchy's welfare and hope for good news. Soon I hope.

There's an amazing video of the gig. I have a copy. The first song, Highway 61, was like kick starting a Norton Dominator. Lindisfarne had been on first.

Simple Twist of Fate was incredible. And he did that dirty version of Tangled which, as far as I know, he only did once afterwards and that was on the Saturday to a packed out Wembley Stadium. I was there for that as well. I got my car stolen and I put my hand through a gap in the sheeting that covered the pitch and brought home a few blades of the sacred grass. Which I still have somewhere.

@spendius,
You sound as bad as my husband in your Dylan admiration - he's an icon in this house. I have more catholic tastes - like Dylan lots, but keen on many more too - Rob Thomas being a great fave!

@vonny,
Dylan is and was a plagiarist! (at least on 1 tune) His latest though, Tempest, is worth a listen to.
For more Dylan check out edgarblythe's Dylan thread. http://able2know.org/topic/3431-1

((((((((crew)))))))))

yep Mis, I iz all fingers and thumbs right now. Neutral

OK. Plan A - B - C'ish

hmmmmm...

Danny had one bypass and the valve replaced. (MrsBEAgle believes it is the one bypass - but... perhaps if the surgeon weren't quite so curt with her <and believe me, she's a strong lady and not one to be curt with...but his bedside manner was not the best after the op>... perhaps we will get more info re: 1 or 2 bypass)

Danny is under very heavy sedation after a 5.5hr operation. Unfortunately, the blood is not oxygenating and he had to receive a blood transfusion last night (possibly more, not known yet), his blood pressure is not good at the mo.

Of course, with the sedation, he is unaware of what's going on - but Anna has seen him and the nurses have assured her that they will keep telling him that she has been there with him.

He's in intensive care and will remain there for a while - they will be running tests today to try and find out why the blood is not oxygenating.

Of course, this is a great worry... but Danny is strong in his will... and he's got through this operation. I realise that the mind cannot always heal the body...but fer suuure, his mind wanted to get well and better. We're very much hope that they will work out what's going on and rectify it.

Anna has spoken to the hospital thismorning (a very nice nurse who was reassuring) and she will go visit with the Cosmic Eagle this afternoon. He's unlikely to be brought around from the sedation until they find out more fully what is happening - so it may be a few days before we can find out where the problem is.

Anna is in washing and cleaning mode - ha, it's a girl thang!!!! Very Happy

She's had someone stay a little while last night and folk who will check on her and thankfully, family will be coming down at the weekend so she will have lots of distractions during these next critical few days. She's not able to spend much time with him in ICU and the heavy sedation is the best thing for him right now - but she does need to be taking care of herself and to get her strength up for when he comes home. I've asked her to go and pamper herself a bit... and I'm sure that their DIL and G-kids will help her through the next week. The uncertainty is the worst thing, as most of us have had experience with in whichever form.

If you all can keep those positive thoughts going, prayers and healing wishes... I do believe that in some part of his heart he will know they are forthcoming.

Both Danny and Anna come from good stock. Their hearts and minds are true and I know Danny will be fighting, as much as he's able to, to recover.

Will call Anna again on Friday morning and will keep you all posted. Please ((FS)), please don't feel you can't talk out loud if you speak to Anna, it's about Danny... and that's all that's important. Very Happy

Anna and I did have a fair bit of laughter as we spoke - she's great, really, we were talking about how he's going to try and get her to bring in puddings and sweets into the hospital again and that when he's home he'll be sure to take advantage Wink ... but she 'aint gonna let him - we did laugh!

Again, I know you're doing it already, and thank you on behalf of Danny and Anna because they know y'all are thinking about them and care about them... keep the wishes, in whatever way you may do that, to send healing beats to our Bosun.

Thanku crew - you do all make such a difference, even if you don't think you do... you really do. x

G'nite from the UK, Good Morning Down Under and Good Afternoon to our North Americans and beyond.

x
