Thank you both, she wasn't a very nice lady truth be told, and she's been completely senile for the last two years, so it is a relief. Although there is all the hassle of the funeral to sort out. I'm a little bit melancholic because I'm reminded of my wife's death in July 2004, but it's not something I can't get over.

That does sound like more of a release. In that case I am glad you have found comfort in that. But I am sorry for your feeling your loss so keenly right now. I wouldn't imagine that is ever something you would get over. Thoughts are with you and the kids.

I have got a problem and it's this: every time I make myself a cup of coffee and that's quite a lot, instant of course, I put in the granules into the mug and sometimes also two sweetener tablets and then pour in the boiling water but I always put in too much water, happens every time, and then there's not enough room for the milk, I prefer full-cream but her indoors won't buy it, semi-skimmed if I'm lucky, so the coffee is too dark and the mug is filled up to the brim and it's too precarious to lift in case I spill it on the worktop or worse, the floor and so I have to use a spoon to get some out and then put more milk in until it looks about right, stirring carefully as you might imagine, have you any idea how long all this takes, instant it's not.

Get a bigger mug.

I've spent most of today at the funeral home, I've only just got the death certificate so I can't register it until next week.

THat would do it, only if I used to bigger mug to decant the contents of the smaller mug into, because if I started with the bigger mug, I bet I would do the same dumb thing over again, except with more water of course.

Thanks mate, but it was always something I've got to deal with. At least once the funeral is over I won't have to deal with it any more. I won't have to keep telling everyone new who deals with her, that she isn't my mother. I've lost count of the amount of times I've had the same conversation with different officials, doctors, nurses, carers and care home managers. I've had to deal with her affairs for the last four years, and now I've only got a bit more to go.

I just looked up Dawson... well, I'll smile while giving my condolences, Izzy.

I got a phone call from Spain this evening, from some very excited ladies.
Apparently the cabin boy's choir have just won their competition, and now they're European champions or something.

Yes, well done indeed. I'm a bit hazy about what they have actually won, but it's a gold medal.
