Penalty TRY to England!!!!!!!!

England 19 - Ireland 9

not the best match in the world - greasy conditions, slip slidin' all over the place.

The young English team is shaping up nicely! Our scrum is excellent.

England 22 - Ireland 9

Love penalty kicker Owen Farrell - he's the new Jonny! Cool

<no no, no-ones quite like Jonny Wilko... but Farrell is gonna rattle some Aussies in the World Cup, fer sure!> Wink

@Izzie,
Meanwhile in another part of town, the Championship's player of the year scores another hatrick to keep Saints 2 points clear at the top.

@izzythepush,
Morning crew, you have your Rugby and Soccer in the UK, we have the Olympic Swimming Trials in a fantastically newly built pool just 1km from here. Saw Australia's greatest swimmers vie for places on the team for London the last few days, amongst them, 5 times Olympic Champion Ian Thorpe. Unfortunately the great man failed in his bid to qualify for the 200m freestyle, he gets another chance in the 100m freestyle tonight. He will have his work cut out as he faces the current World champion James Magnussen. Stephanie Rice another triple gold medallist in Beijing also set the pool on fire with magnificient swims after having had shoulder surgery in December. Some great young swimmers coming on with high hopes for London. Time will tell. Waves from downunder.

Yay! Wales - 6 Nations champions!

Thanks for that clip of the Welsh National Anthem - it really is stirring, isn't it? Dem Welshies can sing! Fortunately I haven't had to sing it yet - it's a while since Wales beat Australia!

And England beat the Irish well (or badly) depends on which way you look at it. Boooo! Go Ireland!

On local rugby, the Waratahs (from my state) were beaten by 1 point (yet again!) by those newcomers from Western Australia, Western Force. What on earth are you doing, 'Tahs?

Greetings, all.

@Izzie,
A gaelic toast to the captain and her ship on this, the day of the Irish..

May those who love us, love us.
And those who don't love us,
May God turn their hearts;
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May He turn their ankles,
So we will know them by their limping.

hope you all enjoyed the spring weather this weekend...

Happy Monday Y'all! I hope you all had a good weekend! We had the twins birthday party finally and it was crazy. They were up all night Friday night with their friends. It took me almost the whole weekend to recover! Wink

We are on Spring Break this week - but are just hanging at home. Boys are playing baseball and practising drums and trumpet. G-baby got his recorder (it's like a flute) and has been playing it non stop. I think I have heard the theme to Peanuts about 50 times. Seriously. That was just a piano tune I heard occasionally - now with the portable instrument it seems to be non-stop.

Hugs you all. I am going to get my ducks in a row and get the boys busy.

@mismi,
Hi crew, the Olympic Swimming Trials are still on nearby, saw a fantastic swim in the 100m freestyle last night. Young Aussie James Magnussen won the race in near world record time, mark him down as a sure Gold Medal winner in London! He is nicknamed the "Missile" and swims like it too.

Where is our Izzie, missing in action, waiting for a sign Captain.

Feeling sorry for mismi, think you need ear plugs girlie. Smile

@Rockhead,
Lord help me.

We went fishing this morning. I caught a crappie. No jokes please - it was a FISH. And what was really exciting about it is there was a HUGE catfish chasing him in...I really want to catch that catfish now. S boy caught 4 crappie and 2 brim...obviously he has the touch. But it was beautiful - warm (not uncomfortably so) and breezy.

Izzie - where are you hun? Hope all is well.

Y'all have a good day - much to do with these busy boys!

@mismi,
My wee lad's got the snuffles, he's been off school since he was sick on Friday. He actually wanted to go to school today because he goes horseriding on Tuesdays. He's a bit miffed, but understands why.

For those of you who don't know, this guy Vincent Crabbe, of Harry Potter fame has just been sentenced to 2 years in jail for rioting.

@mismi,
Thanks for that, he's OK, or he will be. He's just starting to get his appetite back, so he's on the mend.

As for the rioter, he was just rioting with all the rest.

Quote:
An actor who featured in the Harry Potter films has been jailed for two years for his part in the London riots.

Jamie Waylett, 22, who played Hogwarts bully Vincent Crabbe, was found guilty of violent disorder at London's Wood Green Crown Court.

Waylett, of Hillfield Road, Hampstead, north-west London, admitted swigging from a stolen bottle of Champagne.

But the actor was cleared of intending to destroy or damage property with a petrol bomb he was pictured holding.

Waylett was with a gang of at least four people who went into Chalk Farm on 8 August.

'Withered actor'

There he was captured on CCTV with his hood over his head.

Although he had the good fortune to be in the Harry Potter films, it turned out to be not so good fortune”

Emily Dummatt

Defence lawyer

The images showed him accepting a bottle of Champagne from a rioter who had just looted a Sainsbury's supermarket and glugging down the expensive contents.

Judge Simon Carr said: "A considerable amount has been said about what happened over those few days.

"Anyone watching the footage in this case can only imagine the mayhem that took place on the streets.

"You chose to go out on to the streets on what was the third day of the violence."

He continued: "The footage shows you in the near vicinity of a Sainsbury's in Camden which was being looted.

"You were pictured on a number of occasions with a bottle full of petrol with a rag as a wick.

"I accept entirely the jury's verdict that you did not throw or have any intention of throwing it but merely being in possession of it would have been terrifying to anyone who saw you."

Waylett's lawyer Emily Dummatt said in mitigation that her client had become a "withered actor by the age of 22".

'Struggled with fame'

She went on: "Although he had the good fortune to be in the Harry Potter films, it turned out to be not so good fortune."

Ms Dummatt said Waylett - who has three low-grade GCSEs and a qualification in painting and decorating - had struggled with his fame and began to use cannabis.

He will be eligible for release after a year behind bars.

The actor received a two year sentence for violent disorder and 12 months for handling stolen goods, to run concurrently.

He has a previous conviction for cannabis possession.

And, the cabin boy has gone off with her choir to Spain for a competition/ festival thingy.

Not necessarily both reasons to be cheerful, but hey.

I've just logged on and read your news...

I know this is bittersweet for you - I'm sorry for your loss - I also understand that a burden has been lifted and you will feel less weight on your shoulders.

Ya know I'm thinking of you.

She's at peace now.

I hope the kids are OK - hugs to you three.
