I daresay the Captain is getting fed up with thoughts of snow.
More snow falling in the south-west today, with wind, so there'll be drifting.
The captain's cabin is in a dip, so she'll probably disappear in the drifts for a while.
I hope you've got enough corned beef and Smash, Izzie, to last out a seige if the roads are blocked.

Just like in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, eh?

Where's Howard Keel when you need him? Very Happy

Hi all,

went to let the cat out the back door and wondered why he just sat and looked perplexed! Was face with 2 foot of snow up the door and couldn't get out! looks like more shovelling for me!! My poor little dogs with have trouble going for a walk as the snow drifts are taller than them!!! Had to cancel the dentist and was hoping to get to Izzies but looks like that is out now! Just a whole day of shovelling snow I think. I gotta think of a way to get to Exeter station tomorrow as my mum is coming, it's about 20miles away! I suppose I could start walking now will get there for tomorrow but then how to get back mmmmmmmmmm needs more thought!!

Hope all is well with you and yours. X

@annis,
Hi annis. Why shovel snow all day if you're not going anywhere? Just to make a path for the doggies and cat? Smile Hope your mother can make it tomorrow. Saw lots of reports of the snow up your way and feel sorry for the many people stranded at Heathrow airport unable to fly home before Christmas. Have a nice day.

@Dutchy,

The bastards at Heathrow wouldn't let elderly passengers into the first-class lounge.
Heads should roll.

@McTag,
Hey Crew

Just checking in and wishing everyone a good day.

We've got off very lightly, hardly any snow this way Sad <very sad face>, maybe 6 inches max, prolly not even that, but it is white - again, we must be one of the only places not hit by the snow - why is that? All the villages around us are whited out and snowed in. Tulip is 17 miles from here but much higher; that part of Dartmoor always gets hit hard with the snow but our temps here in the valley get much colder. We hit some pretty low ones last night, -9 appararently, and we're a little colder here than in the town!!!!!!!

Most of the main roads are being cleared fairly well - but none of our little roads have priority; yesterday there was a man walking through the village with a bucket of salt and just scattering it over the road so people could at least get to the little shop for some provisions, tho they are pretty much running out.

I'm meant to have a food delivery tomorrow Shocked tho I don't think Tesco will get here...so, who knows what for Crimbo Razz Have a freezer full of "stuff", so we'll make do. As for Crimbo presents - NONE! Oh dear. Don't know what to do. Really can't think.

Very nice fella walked down from the garage today and took my car away - there aren't really any cars going along the road, the odd one and a tractor or two, so he didn't worry about clearing the snow off it, just puttered it along the 500 yards or so to the workshop. Windscreen wipers don't work and therefore it's not legal to drive on the road when I can eventually get out - which has to be on Wednesday as I have a hospital appointment, xrays and consultant. Hopefully the roads will be clear enough then to get into the city. That'll be my first proper drive.

Other than that, all is... ya know, k, except for a leaking shower - well, I think it's the shower, could be a pipe, there's water been running down the garage walls - but I can't do anything about it, so, will just need to leave it until I can someone here to investigate. Ah well, nem'mind.

BEAgle... can see you trying to msn me - my messenger and hotmail are all kaput - if I use them I keep getting a nasty pop up window which slows my laptop down - something about a script which I have to keep 'stopping' or cancelling, both which then stop me writing anything for a while - so I'm avoiding using them at the moment, just checking my email every so often. Thanks to all who have emailed me, will reply when I can.

Keeping busy with my camera... click click click

Off to make a brew - thinking of you all and thanks to everyone for not giving up on me whilst I've lost my sea legs. <sigh>

Lovin y'all x

@Izzie,
Hi Izzie, was wondering what was happening with msn, at least you know the Beagle was trying to contact you and say hi. Family arriving on your big day, should be fun, busy few days ahead. House is decorated and the Christmas tree is up, all we need is some of your snow alas that is not to be as 34 degrees is forecast for Christmas day. You wouldn't think that is possible after a cold day today, barely 19 degrees. Keep warm Captain. (((Izzie))).

@Dutchy,
Izzie, it sounds like you are getting all the white stuff over there that we usually get! The storms just keep passing us by and going straight to you. We have only a white dusting on the ground at the moment and another near miss today. Not that I'm complaining, I hate the stuff. Sorry you're having to deal with it...drive carefully when you get out and take care.

Ok been shoveling have a wall of snow on my front garden! still can't get car out! so have booked a taxi for my mum tomorrow and we have to go meet it on the main road and drag suitcase, her and dog back! Ran out of milk so ended walking to town as local shop had run out too! Milkman couldn't get through! I then bought too much and struggled to get home had to call the troops to help (kids), who moaned "why did you buy so much!" Well it was all the stuff for Xmas dinner I replied that made them quiet!

Tis very quiet and the mist is coming down now! oh no could be more snow coming!!

Wow - lots of snow - 6 inches is more than I have seen - maybe forever Izzie! Glad you popped in hun. My family are all on their way up tonight so I will be taking care of them the next couple of days. It is hard for me to believe that we are right on Christmas.

Stay warm sweet Izzie. I wish I had a way to call you. I don't have long distance right now, or I would. ((Izzie)) thoughts and prayers.

Hugs to all my yabber crew. Hope you are all staying warm or cool in Dutchy's case. Wink

Yikes - such extreme weather.

We've actually had some snow, too Well, not in Sydney, but a couple of hours drive from here. Now - that is weird! It should be about 30 degrees C right now and rising. And we've got a heap of floods!

Iz - hope things improve on the home front.

@margo,
Hello Crew! Its nearly Christmas! Yes! Sorry I haven't been on board for ages. I went back to work for 2 days, picked up a chest infection and was signed off work again till after xmas. Feeling much better now though folks and just hoping the vast amount of snow we have had will melt before travelling around over the festive period.
I just want to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year.
Sis. I love you and will call you later

God bless
FQ xx
