@Izzie,
You've got TWO!!!!!

Yeppers, that's the exact-a-mundo heavy honking thing I've been dragging around with me for 10 weeks now. Lucky me, I've only got one. I can't begin to imagine how you're going to climb stairs with two of them.

I have to walk up and down stairs sideways because the darn thing doesn't fit on a stair riser. Mine are probably larger than yours, but I can't imagine having two of them.

Oh..... hunni, tell s-boy to take some video of you doing stairs, if and when you ever get to doing stairs. This I gotta see!!!

Glad you're sounding so chipper and perky. Take it easy -- don't overdo -- follow Dr's orders, and all that.

((( Iz )))

@Izzie,
Izzie, Dems is boots and a half. All the rage somewhere, I'm sure. And you were the first on your block to have them.

I hope they're more comfortable than they look. And if they help you get around, then I say they look great!

Keep healing, kid.

@Izzie,

Quote:
POMcT – the babbling brook is high (can see it from my bedroom window), prolly about a foot off flooding at the top end of the garden, but I shall trust the word of the farmers that this place will never flood. It definitely is nowhere like it was two Decembers ago – when I got caught in the swollen river near work at 2am and the car blacked out and we (‘nother blonde and I) had to be rescued by Joe the Farmer! Not even close to the force of the water back then – I do hope not to see a repeat of that as it was a bit loud and scary.

Talking of which McT – how is your flooded kitchen? Did you manage to dry it all out. I hope you’ve kept the plinths off for a while... heh, how Linda Barker do I sound - ho ho ho! She’s got a bit of nagging voice... I can do that

Cap'n Izz, you are a gem. You put such a lot of creativity into your posts.

These boots are something else. But the little bits of legs showing above the boots look very attractive....think k d laing, (and not Olive Oyl)
And thank goodness for downstairs loos.

Flooding- well that bridge in Lostwithiel has been there for 750 years, they say, and I wouldn't put money on another 10 like these.

Kitchen, don't ask, basically- a work in progress.

(Puts on Prince Charles voice) My wife and I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to those kind people who took the trouble to send congratulations and best wishes on the anniversary of our wedding. We were, and are, most appreciative of your kind thoughts.

Embarrassed I am to go down on my bahookie as it's too dangerous to walk down as my stairs are varnished. Embarrassed Fortunately, I have enough padding in that region <cough> Wink Going up, it takes forever - I am walking exactly like a robot - you have to keep remembering to bend your knees and lean forward - they do do the job as my feet don't hurt in them at all, tho they do get a little hot - but as you know, they are sooooooooooooo heavy and cumbersome - right crutch forward, left leg forward, left crutch forward, right left forward - rinse and repeat. Ha, once I get in a shuffle mode - Ima cruising. Mr. Green

Yep Beth... thanks for the hairy eyeball - I will behave - certainly I can really feel the bones in the top of my mid foot if I do put my foot on the floor and try to weight bear. I know I have to wear the boots but it's gonna be awfully hard work and tho I'm not tiny little anymore like I was a couple years ago, my chicken legs are pathetic. I've got everything set up in my bedroom - ya know, the important things, kettle, tea, laptop etc... Razz and the same downstairs - I can't carry anything as I walk... oof, gonna be a long haul, so gonna have to make it as fun as possible - only way I know how - and heh, I do look so completely ridiculous that it would be impossible to take seriously. If they do the job, that's what they're for.

Unfortunately, my second toe has dropped, the surgeon mentioned it and beat a hasty retreat from the hospital room yesterday saying "I'll see you in 2 weeks"... it's very obvious, I can it underneath my big toe and after cutting the tendons under the 2nd, 3rd and 4th toes, they should have each sprung back up... he looked very disappointed - and Charlie's very disappointed... I can't actually see it so well but I can feel it there. Ah well... nem'mind.

So good having Charlie here - she's still soundo right now, I think she'll sleep late today, very long day for her yesterday and she did brilliantly - that's the first big drive she's done since everything happened. I've been awake since 8am - have decided I no longer want to take my sleeping potion for various reasons, all of them good reasons - but had to concede a half tablet last night as I wasn't going to be sleeping anytime soon... but I know that means I'm not going to be getting more than a few (if that) hours sleep a night - maybe the boots will wear me out - next year I want to get fit, walk a lot and do so much more than I did this year...ha, life begins at 46 (ahaahaha) so, after this little ordeal is over - life is going to change, if I can get my body in better shape. The mind over matter is there, I just hope my body doesn't mind or complain too much.

Boida - hope you are enjoying your birthday and had a treat Very Happy Will pop across to the 'sugary' thread to check on how Bellevue went. x

Ah POMcT - kitchen none to happy. That's not good. I hope you can get it dried out slowly - it's the nuisance factor, isn't it. Our newly built bungalow flooded May 3rd 200whenever at Links Tor, day before the builder was putting the wooden flooring in, we were up at Charlies parents for Ian and her Dad's birthday at the time, came home on the bank holiday (4th) in the evening... and... saw all the water coming out of the newly rendered outside of the building - the whole place was under 6 inches of water. I had a self catering business starting up and bookings... and we lost a year of business, total nightmare and nuisance value, thankfully insurance took care of the finer points, but the emotional crahp was CRAHP. Took months to dry out with industrial blowers. Got there in the end tho, a year later nearly to the day - and it was a beautiful, beautiful bungalow, great business.

Yep, Lostwithiel got dumped on heavily - I think the weather just sat over Cornwall and the gales were horrendous... big mess down there. Nasty.
http://www.lostwithiel.org.uk/news/items/flood-lostwithiel

Do you remember Boscastle - ah, pretty much my favourite place in the world...

but then... in the bigger picture, no-one was killed (by some miracle) and the only place left standing was the witches shop Shocked

...and then, Pakistan lives a true nightmare still.

Doesn't take anything away what's happening to you - it's still a pain in the bahookie and crahp you can do without, especially coming up towards Christmas - I hope it can all get dried out and that you didn't discover anything under the other cupboards or that it had seeped along. Did the fencing men come back and complete everything they needed to do?

OK, I'm rambling horribly - sorry, prolly gonna be like that for a while, chittering away....

oh, last night I said "nice policeman in nice police car... lucky to get pulled over..." meant to write... lucky NOT to get pulled over... I didn't get pulled over, just got the hairy eyeball. Y'all prolly realised that - how does yer brain do that, miss out words!!!!! Ha.... that made me laugh, y'all are prolly thinking "Mz Izz... miss out a few more and quit yabbering"..... hahahahahahaha

no chance! Razz

blah

Wishing all a good day, Charlie's still zzzzzing... oooh, my boss just called me... been yabbering down the blower to her...

K. gone. <leans over bed, flicks kettle switch... makes cuppa> Rolling Eyes

Sounds like a wonderful plan.

Don't push yourself too far too fast. Do what you can, follow dr's orders, and it will slowly come about.

@FlavourQueen,
Morning FlavourQueen and Izzie, so pleased to hear you have lots of laughs despite the handicaps. Wishing you both good times and hope the Captain is on her feet in no time. Loved and laughed at the photos Izzie, you portrayed yourself full of humour whilst obviously very uncomfortable, true grit! Sister FQ please look after our Captain but also look after yourself, your visit to Devon is beyond the call of duty after your own struggles. ((((FlavourQueen - Izzie)))).

@Dutchy,
Hey Crew

Haven’t been able to talk for a couple days – struggling bigtime right now in my head, frustrated as hell.

Charlie had to leave yesterday morning and get back up to Essex - it was so, so good having her here for a couple days and made a huge difference -having her company which is always a form of peace for me. First time I have ever had someone with me after surgery!

Have cried a lot since she left, she cried too. Ha, I’m crying now – totally pathetic. Just struggling with everyday things – it is getting a little easier to walk/manoeuvre and I’m not really in any pain (which is also a first and excellent really, considering), surprisingly so, the boots do completely bear the weight and it doesn’t hurt, it’s just hard to do anything – maximum effort and minimum gain even to walk a few steps – my body is so tired. Up and down stairs takes me an eon. It was actually easier having the other surgeries and being plastered I reckon – but this recovery will be/should be a lot quicker than any other – hopefully, when I go back to the hospital in a couple weeks, maybe he will say the bones should have joined together enough not to wear these anymore.

I have got steroids going around my body right now, from the surgery and they injected both my ankles, which is prolly helping my other joints which have been, miraculously, pain free!!!!!!!!!!

I’m feeling terribly restricted and it’s badly messing with my head and my being. Have reduced my sleeping potion too – therefore hardly sleeping at all – I know the side effects of this are causing me a problem but I have to do this now.

Anyhoo, can’t change it, and will try not to whine again. If I’m quiet, that’s why tho. Just pass me cheese! Deep fried camembert with some cranberry sauce would be lovely, thanku Razz

*********************************************************************************

Hey POMcT – nope, no email updates here at all either. Have you contacted the hamsters at all? Hope the kitchen is getting dry and things are improving up in Macunian country. At least the weather seems to have calmed a little now – so, will just do a little prayer to the snow fairy for the New Year – love me some snow!!!!!! Very Happy btw – how’s your bass coming along – playing much???

Missy – how did the boyz get on with the Footie Championship? Did they win? More importantly, did they enjoy? Hoping you've had a good evening last night and that you may get your Sunday nap today. Love you Mis xxxxx

BEAgle – hope all is good in South Australia and things went well with the angels Razz I did do my spotty boots for Children In Need – pink sequin material but we didn’t take pics that night (too too tired) – but I will be making some rather lovely coverings for my boots with some tassly fabric when I can get my head sorted. I hope you're managing to get out and about and doing some walking. Have you plans for Crimbo yet? I hope the M&K + g-kids will be able to pop down and see you. x

Hey jw – yep, it’s a long journey and she did so well driving down and back having not driven such a distance for a while. It was great having her here. She's tired from the radiotherapy - but doing so well and there's not too much burning. She really has been remarkable throughout and having her girls around has made a big difference too.

Baz – thanku again. So glad you’ll finally be meeting your great grandson – and get to see 1 of 4 and Small – do hug them from me OK... tissues, you’ll need boxes! And photos... video... you can do that too now. Can’t wait to see a pic of you holding him and with Small Very Happy

Fantastic photos of MaMaVerby – just wonderful – thanku for putting them up here. H-boy is such a handsome smunch – ah, those 2 front teeth - and just look at our Vegemite – beautiful... love those pics. Love them. xxx

((TC)) - THINKING PINK - how is your 'C' doing? Sending posivibes for her and for you that work isn't too busy today. I read that Ceili and Mame have snow so I'm figuring you must be a little white by now. Your boss will be happy to shuftie those snow blowers a?!

(((((Blue)))))) - miss yooooou heaps. Hoping all is good with you and yours and everything is tickety. xox x

Thinking of y’all...((Bethie))((JPB))((Boida))((Babbling)) et al - and welcome onboard to EuroCelticYankee – always good to see new crew Very Happy Thrilling in fact! We love us some humour and music videos!

kk... tea methinks.
