On an open fire, if you're roasting your chestnuts, you need a flat metal plate or a good shovel.
Otherwise, you get cinders (and burnt fingers)

Your boring and practical

Yeah, Strictly was on a Halloween theme tonight, how tacky is that, bang out of order, like those BBC presenters wearing their poppies before November.

I'm against it. In fact, I'm against most things.

@Barry The Mod,
Morning crew, a normal Sunday here, no Halloween. Aussies are pre-occupied about the Melbourne Cup, the horse race that stops the Nation next Tuesday, everybody has a little flutter including me and Mrs.B. Smile

Izzie all well down under, passed my first test, a stroll through the vineyards with flying colours. Bring on the music and we'll do another tango on the poop deck.

Feeling peggish, so I'm off to have breakfast, waves from downunder, will be back later.

Oh, I see - this is my fault, too - as well as the floods and unending rain! Sheeesh! I'd never seen a boiler before - we don't have them here. Evil or Very Mad

Greetings, all

Dutchy - all Australians should be excited about the Wallabies finally, after 10 losses, beating the All-Blacks!

@margo,
Afternoon All

WISHING OUR LETTY THE HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS ((((((((((Letty))))) x

ha, Margo - I'm just glad we got it reset when you were here... can you imagine having coming from deepest darkest Cornwall and from the dribbles in Bath - to then not be able to shower in Devon! Oh no no no! btw - if you don't have boilers ... what do you use? Know you'll be gearing up for the cricket... 24 years it's been - we're after the Ashes Razz

Wanna know what was wrong - the flame thingy wasn't working... why... because the straight bits that throw the spark had bent over from the heat so when it tried to fire, the spark did not jump over to the other metal bit....

it's a boiler, it's supposed to get hot!!!!!!!!!!! DOH! Confused <whoever patented that 'aint gonna be making too much dosh a?>

Anyhoo - they fixed it and put a new part it which, even if it bends in the heat, is in a square shape so the spark will jump across no matter what. I know, that prolly doesn't make sense. I have a photo but it's prolly way too boring so nem'mind.

verrrrrrrrrrrra verrrrrrrrra tired today - incredibly fatigued - S-boy has been over with Tulip - they had a fab holiday - camels, sunrise over the Sahara... (she's posted pics on fb) - but unfortunately Tulip and F-boy have come back with terrible coughs - F-boy went to the hospital today to get a check after a particularly bad night last night - he's gotta keep taking his puffer!

ok... gotta shoot off and pick him up - he's going into town with his big cousin tonight for Halloween <ack> and I'm picking him up late - no school tomorrow, so that's coco.

((BEAgle)) - keep on strolling! x

For what it's worth, to cheer the Aussies up, I just saw them tonking the English at Rugby League. At least, they were a zillion ahead at half time, and still looking very frisky.

Halloween songs remind me of the great Fleetwood Mac song about a witch from Welsh mythology:

@wandeljw,
Happy Halloween! We just got finished hiking around the neighborhood getting the candy. It was fun. Kids had a great time...I had two hobo's and a hippy this year. I had my Boo! t-shirt and my devil horns on again. Smile

Hope you all are doing well. Everything is just so fast these days. I am busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. (sorry - I borrowed that one from Dolly Parton )

Hugs to you all!

Won that one - but - even more important, and worthy of comment - the Wallabies beat the All Blacks (after 10 losses). A converted try after full time did it!
Bring on the Europeans.
Bring on the World Cup!
Let's shoot Jonny Bloody Wilkinson!
