Is there some way we can invite Al Qaeda or the North Koreans to invade Berkeley?

It would interesting to see if they would clamor for military assistance from the government of if they chose to meet the invaders with flowers for their gun barrels and crystal spirit flux for their aggressive tendencies.

Alas, their pacifism will never be put to the test.

They folded up like the pink pansies they are

"SACRAMENTO ?- The mayor of Berkeley said he favors reversing or diluting the city's move to block Marine recruitment, which triggered a conservative backlash that reached the state Capitol on Thursday.

Tom Bates, who presides over the Berkeley City Council, said in an interview that a proposal on Tuesday's agenda would halt or modify the council's decision last week to send the Marine Corps a letter saying its recruiters were not welcome.

"I think we now certainly realize we went too far," Bates said. Changing the decision "is going in the right direction."

He said the council backs U.S. troops, just not the war in Iraq. "

Yea...right....
