There were a lot of homes/cottages in trouble. Mine was one of them (I didn't own it at the time). For years the residents battled the waters and begged the ACOE to lower the lake levels. Suddenly, one spring they were a far lower. Credit was given, whether appropriate or not, to one state legislator who almost lost his place. It is legend in the area. I don't know his name.
