It's late afternoon here Olga. And it's earlier than that in Barbados where the final of the World 20/20 cup is about to begin. England have won the toss and have put Australia into bat. As the Australian captain has said that he would have batted first had he won the toss the Australians might be said to have won the toss by losing it. Not that we know whether he would have batted first had he won the toss. But having lost it he had nothing to lose by his ploy and everything to gain. He sowed a seed of doubt into the England team about the wisdom of choosing to bat second and doubt about a thing like that is not the best thing for a team to take onto a cricket field when playing against you lot for the World Cup.

If I thought you were awake as I write this post I would suggest you watch the game but I suppose it might be over by the time you lurch out of the pit and go down in your slippers and put the kettle on.

Just woke up and whilst making my cuppa I heard the Poms won, congratulations Spendi, your boys have restored a little pride in your game.

Yes Dutch--but our two leading run getters are both South Africans. At least your team was one of pure racial purity.
