@George,
Excellent. What are easy runs?

Remember how I felt yucky on Monday? That night I slept terribly -- extremely congested and blah. Plus coughing and stuff. We just turned on the furnace for the first time. I went ahead and also turned on the humidifier, and things seem to be going better. I'm not 100% but I wouldn't say I'm sick. Still managed to do 6 laps, 3 sets of 2 continuous ones. (As in a 800-meter-run, three times, with walking laps in between.)

First time we've done that, wasn't bad 'tall.

In this case it was 4 miles at a 10:27 pace.

Today we saw the other side of New England autumn. Not the sunshiny days
with just a bit of chill in the breeze, oh no. This was cold (40F) and wet and
windy. I think I have a touch of Raynaud's phenomenon (self-diagnosed); my
fingers are very sensitive to cold. My hands were pretty numb by the time I got
back and they warmed up painfully. It's glove season.

Wished I had my gloves last Sunday, nearly froze a finger. Wished I hadn't worn my sweatshirt yesterday, overheated in a hurry.
Yup.
It's fall alright.

@Joe Nation,
Walked almost 2 hours (in 4 separate stages) yesterday. It wasn't that long ago that I would've looked at you as if you were on crack if you'd've suggested such a thing to me.

I jogged in Montréal Saturday . I started out from our hotel in Old Montréal
and set out for Mont Royal Park overlooking the city. The first two miles were
brutal. It's a steady uphill with some very steep sections. I wasn't feeling that
chipper to begin with and by the time I got to the park entrance I was gassed.

The entrance to the park was blocked off. They were working on the roads. I
suppose I could have found a footpath and continued on up to the top of the
"mountain" (it's only about 500 ft high, but the locals insist on calling it that).
However, I took the barrier as a sign from the Running Gods that I'd climbed
high enough. I ran down to the river and along the Promenade for a while and
then back to the hotel.

Any fat I burned, I easily replaced at the hotel's breakfast buffet.

@George,
More walking today, as usual. Plus big time personal milestone achieved. I am now narrower and faster.

Since I'm working the "George has no life" shift (mid-afternoon to sometime
past midnight), I've been running from home. It's definitely better than
running from work. Office parks can be boring.

Today was just about perfect running weather, 58F and sunny. Enjoy it while
it's here. Winter is on the way.

I've passed the 900 mile mark for the year. Less than 100 miles to go!

I'm back to regular hours. Alleluia! I ran at lunchtime the first three days of
this work week and I'm planning to run today. It's rainy, but not cold --
probably 60F by noon.

My ortho guy thinks I have bursitis in my right shoulder and told me that it was
hurting while I run because, like most people, I tend to hold my shoulders
high when running. I've been deliberately keeping my hands lower and, indeed,
that seems to help.

I've got some cube-work in front of me this AM, an excellent opportunity for
icing. So I'm off to get my cold compress.

I hope the silence here is not because we've all stopped exercising.

@George,
I'm sick and extremely unhappy about it. (And not working out as a result.)

A few weeks ago I started coughing my head off. Went to doc. Diagnosis of allergic rhinitis (leaf mold) and bronchitis. Went on antibiotics. Helped. Good. Completed the run on Monday.

Made plans yesterday with trackmom to run Friday.

Yesterday afternoon, felt stuffy and cough-y. The coughing kept going, and going, and going. Impossible to sleep. Up until about 5:00 AM (after having gone to bed at about 9 PM, unsuccessfully), then finally conked out.

Going to the doctor in a bit.

@sozobe,
Feel better soon.

Still exercising, still looking for fitness opportunities. I missed my rest day last weekend, though, and as a result my weight went up slightly. I'll make sure to rest next Sunday as I am also paying for it with fatigue. Just super-tired and have been all week (staying up late for this, that or the other thing -- not just the election but also sorority stuff).

Went bowling Monday night, more sorority stuff. My lil sis and I shared the game. We bonded over the fact that we both stink on ice. Smile

Sick, sick sick yet....>
I got sick the Sunday before the NYC Marathon, (Oct 26) I wrote it down because I wanted to see how long it would take me to stop coughing.

Today is Nov 9th.... I'm still coughing. I actually took a day off of work last weekend, but I think that was more a reaction to not being in the marathon. (I got really depressed about it, but I'm over that now. On we go.)

Anyway, except for the first week of sickness ran some through all of those coughing days, just not fast and not as far some days as I wanted to (Friday I wanted to do ten, I did three and a half.)

But the sickness shot the crap out of the last week of October so I ended that month with about seventy miles.

Where am I? I'm at 862.1 as of this morning which is (TAH DAH) two miles farther than I ran all last year. (860.3) So all the rest of this is gravy for me.

I'm in a four mile next Sunday and there is a ten K in December.

I was telling someone the other day that I weigh less now than I did when I joined the Air Force in 1967.

Joe(and I think I am running the mile faster now than I did then too.)Nation
