Me, too.
We're walking more during the week. Mondays and Wednesdays, plus making sure to do it on Saturdays which I had been slacking off on when I first started work. Sundays are now rest days when it comes to walking, but I still lift and do resistance bands.
Been a while since I posted....had to take a break from politics and that unfortunately meant staying away from this forum.
Today I just finished my first 20 mile run. Did it in 3:38.
I feel amazing; not my body, but mentally this was a big acomplishment.
62 days until the Chicago Marathon. I'm ready.
excercise goals for me

Eight months after arriving in the USA, I finally got my act together in terms of magazines. The first issue of my brand-new New Yorker subscription arrived in my mailbox this past Thursday. I don't know how I lived without it for so long, but I did.
Two things stood out. One, back in Germany, we used to got the New Yorker on the date it came out. But here in America, they send you the latest issue from the future, by time machine! It sounds weird, I know, but nothing else could possibly explain why the "Aug. 11&18, 2008" issue would arrive on the seventh of August. How cool is that?
The second thing that stood out is the reason I post this in the "Exercise Goals" thread. The new issue has a 10 page article on long distance running, the hook being Ryan Hall, the first American runner in a long time who is really world class. I let the article inspire to me to run in the park for the rest of the week instead of ellipticalling. (The elliptical is my meat-and-potato exercise because of my overweight.) The change worked wonders: Not only did my running quickly improve -- I had expected that. But on top of that, when I got back on the elliptical trainer today, just for the fun of it since I'd already run, I could suddenly burn ten percent more calories over the hour I trained than I did in my best session before. Amazing!
Now, if I could only find where the New Yorker from the future lists the results of the Olympic competition. I have some serious sports betting to do!
That's on my dining room table (in the living room, but never mind). Will read..
We went walking on Saturday (nothing surprising; we do that every Saturday now) but this time we did the big hill and I could do it and not be winded! YAY!
Oh and stepping up exercise has definitely paid dividends in the weight loss dep't. 3.6 down this week; it's like I kicked myself into restart for weight loss.

3.6 pounds in a week? And this is not exactly your first week of weight loss, is it? Will I recognize you the next time we meet?
I'm halfway through that article about Hall, it's a good one.
Finally did a full workout -- it's been scorching for quite a while and today, finally, it's not. GORGEOUS. Blue sky, fluffy white clouds, upper 60's. The temperature makes such a huge difference. I described it to Trackmom as feeling like I have a 20-gallon gas tank instead of a 10-gallon one; I just poop out at some point in really high temperatures, but in this weather I felt like I had way more reserves. Did five laps, pretty fast, and felt like I could do more.

Easy. I'll be the sexy gal.
I see some things haven't changed then. Good.
Way to go, Jespah!
This is the important part:

at least for me.
Building that interior strength, opening up the lungs, getting the heart to pump efficiently and shaking loose all the too tight places and tightening up all the too loose places. Dat's zeet!

So Two-Mile Mike and I are out for our noontime jog. We're running on a
sidewalk on the right side of Rt. 129. As we approach a driveway from a
big parking lot, a car pulls out of the lot, apparently about to turn onto 129.
I'm not sure the driver has looked to his right so I'm slowing down. Mike
keeps on jogging, shouting for attention and clapping his hands. The driver,
oblivious, starts moving. The car is passing mere inches in front of Mike.
Mike is outraged and starts pounding on the hood. The driver just continues
on, chatting on his cellphone.
Usually Mike eases into this part of the run, but now I have to work to keep
up with him; he's on an adrenaline rush. Good thing the driver kept going.
Otherwise he'd be in an emergency ward having a cellphone removed.
And not from his ear.
