maporsche sure advances swiftly!
George is always ahead of his schedule.
Joe is our inspiration.
I'm going well this month. Closed the March gap already.
the ball can definitely make you sweat, beth. depends what you do with it. i'm sure there's plenty of guides online. it's great for abs and push-ups and butt and just about anything.
i'm back on track, yes i am. went to gym yesterday and today, did lots of cardio (jump rope, speed bag, heavy bag, eliptical, running) and weights, mostly hip abductor, abs and me arse (5 reps of lifts at 90 pounds, ooh yeah).
luckily i'm still in good enough shape, so i expect to catch up quickly.
Great news, dag. How's that wrist?
(Me, 6 K. today
)
Ow.
That was awesome, but whoa. Whole 'nother level of workout (which was the idea...) It was kind of freaky stepping onto the track -- first time in 20 years or so but I got that race-day adrenaline rush. Really hard to pace myself... wanted to run.
We did open up for our last lap -- jogged three, walked three, and sprinted at the end of jog-lap # 3. I know, that's a mile and a half total, and only 3/4 of a mile running, that's so nothing, but I'm not in shape. Plus we jogged fast-ish -- faster than I've gone on my own.
Really great to go WITH someone, and she felt the same way. It's pretty rare to find someone who is at about the same fitness level (she's actually more fit than I am, we discovered today, but it's not a huge differential) and who has the time/ energy to work out at the same time as you AND who is a great person. :-) So I'm happy about that. 2-3 times a week of this plus gym will get me where I want to go a lot faster.
6 K today for fbaezer... good goin'. I'll catch you sometime! (OK maybe not. ;-))
Yeah, what's up with the wrist, Dag? Glad you're back into a groove...
when it comes to the wrist, i only have the expletives to share. i saw my doctor, he referred me to a specialist, i called for an appointment...and i got a date...in 2 MONTHS!
i will keep calling to see if there are any openings, but in the meantime i'm real bitter. if that's when i see the specialist, god knows when the surgery will be. by that time, the wrist will have wasted 5 months of my life. i still can't open a jar or a twist-off bottle well, turn door knobs or anything of the sort. I got used to it, i tolerate pain well... it's the limitation i can't stand...if that makes any sense. and i'm bitter about this health care system, knowing that back at home it would be a matter of days. yet, the specialist i got is supposed to be great. dunno. meanwhile, i chug along at the gym, i just have to skip a lot of things i had a lot of enjoyment in -- not in the least boxing. sucks ass, it does.
Dag, is your specialist at MGH?
nope, BMC. There are other specialists, I'm sure, but i don't know how my insurance would work with that. I have insurance through BU and BU health services referred me...this is the specialist they work with, so i might be stuck with that.
well, i bugged them and i got May 21 instead. Still far...but much better than June 18. Gah. and grrr. i hope they will invent some self-healing stations in the future. you know, like self check-in at the airport. it's long overdue.
Dag--
My sympathies. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a cancellation.
Man, that sucks, Dag. I, too, hope you can get a cancellation to take advantage of.
In other news, going out to do a sorority thing tonight. In a grey skirt that was too tight in the hips a few weeks ago.
Is that the one with the poodle on it?
It should be, considering the whole sorority bit. I am even wearing a sweater set with it although no saddle shoes (I haven't owned any since they were back in style for a while in the 70s). Got my pin and the whole bit. Of course I was for a while the Rush Chairman at my chapter so if you recall the Eric Stratton character in Animal House ...
Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!
We are in panic mode again at the widget factory.
I'll be working 1pm to 10pm weekdays and then putting in five or so
hours on Saturday.
It started today so, since Nigel is between jobs, we went to the gym this
morning. Where I proceeded to mess up my lower back on the cable row.
I'll be off the roads for a while. Hell, I'll be walking like Grampa McCoy for
a while.
Oh, no, George. Extreme sympathy from here.
Signed,
the one who hurt her back putting a heavy grocery bag down, dadgummit.
No not recently. But there's nothing quite like that first moment of realization.
(food has it in for me...)
Thanks, osso.
Aren't backs funny? You never know what's gonna mess them up.
Oh no! I'm sorry, George, on both counts but especially about your back.
