I've been doing a lot of planking and it is beginning to show in a somewhat firmer pair o' quads. Plus my forearms are starting to become toned.

Very little weight loss this week (less than half a pound), but that usually means that things are reconfiguring, and that's definitely happening.

This week it's supposed to get a lot nicer and if I have the time I'll do lunchtime walking with my work fitness buddy.

RP, Soz--

Yardwork counts double because of creating harmony with nature.

Dlowan--

Only walking? We're genetically designed to move from place to place supervising personal territory and you're a woman with a large sphere of influence.

Walking is ideal.

JPB--

Always room on the Sinner's Bench Press. I'll slide over.

George--

Are you kin to the Energizer Bunny? Neither rain nor slush....

Jes--

Deconstructing Rome, brick by brick.

Is this your departure party?

I'll be driving Mr. Noddy to a medical afternoon (Orthopod) but this morning I should--nay, I WILL--accomplish seedling-sized wonders.

If yardwork counts double, I'm doin' great this year!
Good luck, Noddy, with the Mister.

...

I jogged 8 K. today; second time I do it the XXI Century.

Since I pulled slightly my thigh muscle sprinting on tuesday, today I had a natural "tacometer"(?), a naturall device -a sting on my thigh- to prevent me from going too fast. It paid off in distance.

For the past 2 days I've done over an hour of walking. Today, no way; I'm far too tired. But the numbers on the pedometer have been satisfying: over 11,000 steps yesterday.

Well, the Scotland Run broke the ice for me.
(I should post the picture here of my contorted face in the final mile)

But April..she been berry berry good to me.

April week one 23.4
April week two 26.2
Race tomorrow (4 mile Lung Cancer) to keep the string going.

I cannot get the frigging maps to work on my computer! Wha??!
I'm at 185.3 which I guess is across the Massachusetts border.

If the mileage is supposed to 280, I'm only about a hundred off the pace. If I can do the equiv of a marathon each week until December... .

This week has been complicated by Mr. Noddy's hospitalization.

Nonetheless, once again, I've started. My stretching exercises are accomplished. Now for Balance & Core Strength.

Joe--

Evidently Mr. Noddy will not be released until tomorrow at the earliest.

Believe me, I'm taking very good care of me--low calorie care, too. Ideally I'd also go for high activity, but the flesh is weak.

Jes--

Eleven thousand steps is somewhere around five miles. Step by step to Cooperstown.

Looks like my steps are about 3400 per mile, so it's closer to 3 3/4 or so. Still good. Smile

Did 50 reps of everything today. Dunno if I'm ready to go to 50 every day but it feels good so far.

The trouble with chasing fitness is that your reward is "more of the same".

Yesterday, in between pouting at the injustices of the universe, I managed to do most of my exercises. Unfortunately, I squandered a day of walking weather. Today's forecast is more seasonable for April in the Poconos.

I'm impressed that you've managed to keep up any exercise at all in the midst of the chaos you've been subjected to lately.

Did yardwork for several hours yesterday -- back yard this time. I was nervous about it, lots of big ugly dry weeds from last year, horrible honeysuckle budding everywhere (I like honeysuckle fine but if given an inch it will take over a square mile in no time flat), all on a steep slope. (Looks SOOOO much better, exhale.) Feel ouchie this AM. Back to regular gymming tomorrow, hopefully.

It pays to warm up.

Was late getting to the race so had to run nearly two miles just to get to the bandstand to get my number, my chip and the pins to put it on my shirt, then run uphill to drop off my jacket and pants in the baggage area and THEN run a half a mile to get the start.

New Personal Record for Four Miles -- 37:10. 9:18 pace.

Soz--

There are advantages to a home "gym".

Joe--

Some people thrive on adrenalin, others on drama. You're a theatrical type: writer/runner/stage manager.
