The weight of the world definitely counts.

So, I did some modified crunching on the stability ball. Verra interesting. I think I like it. I also did these leg extensions but on the chair, not on the ball, as I was sliding around too much. But once I get less klutzy that might be something else to do. I also lay on my belly on top of the ball and did feather kickups (one leg at a time, you kick it up behind you). That I felt.

PS I had a training class today and two of my buddies said they have been noticing changes. The real test will be when my supervisor notices.

George--

I'm ahead of schedule with my running so I'm willing to be a little self-indulgent.

Good. All running and no resting makes George a muscle bound fool.

Jes--

Be warned. Self-absorbed types don't notice body change in others.

Remember: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Exercise balls make sense of Newton.

Looked up the definition of self-indulgent--- nothing about karate moves or stationary bikes-- did find a picture of me though. Cool

ZZZZzzzzz I've been getting much more sleep lately, but not many miles.
Yesterday, I waited until noon for the winds to fall below 22mph, they did not co-operate. The only good news is I have figured out a new running route that takes me through two parks up here at the end of the world of NYC. It starts and ends going uphill. map to follow.

Haven't reached Manchester yet, but getting close.

(Good news: I SAW my first robin yesterday after having heard them for several days. Bad news: he was wearing a parka and mukluks.)

Yep, I'm definitely waiting on the self-absorbed. I figure that's a real test.

Speaking of which --

Crunches on a stability ball are interesting and I think I prefer them right now (I don't love getting on the floor as getting up off the floor is less than dignified).

PS I am now fitting into the jeans that had been bedeviling me. But I do have a muffin top again.

Great job on the working out this week everyone. For those who had a hard time, just forget about it and keep on keeping on.

Today completes the 2nd week of my Chicago marathon training.

Week 1, 15.01 total miles, 163 total minutes, 5.53 average MPH
Week 2, 17.22 total miles, 194 total minutes, 5.33 average MPH

And yes, this is still all on the treadmill. I know I need to venture outdoors.

I am currently admiring the MRI scans of the Cyst in the Wrist. It's there! I can see the little bugger (I think)! Very exciting.

The MRI took forever though, my fingers kept twitching so they had to redo it a few times, then they injected some illuminating stuff into my vein, i felt like a lab bunny.

Then the hangover kicked in. Oy. Never go out drinking before an MRI scan - bad bad bad idea. Luckily it was just a headsplitting headache, nothing more, but it sure didnt help to make time pass quicker.

Exercise goal : start running.

Exercise goal: start serious gardening. This will involve an eventual attitude change re effort in the earlier morning, as our weather will start to heat up one of these days.

No too warm here yet, and the forecast for next week is dry but cold. What is this Spring that people keeping talking about?

We ended up doing 2.5 miles of walking yesterday, about a third of which was uphill. That was actually not the original plan. Originally, we planned to just drop off a package at the post office (that walk is maybe 1 mile round trip). But when we got there they determined that the package was actually UPS. Therefore, we walked to the nearest UPS facility, which is at Boston College.

Today I feel a little stiff from my knees down but I'm otherwise okay, and I'd like to get in a (much shorter) walk today, too. It's very sunny today so that's an added incentive.

Frustratingly, though, the scale is a little up, but that's a function of muscle-building, I expect.

Here it is, the little bugger. Such a tiny little thing and such a pain in the arse.

Damn cyst.

Damn scale. No change from last week (at least it's not up). And yes, it may be tidal. Oof. Or from exercise. Or from sunspots. Helfino.

In the meantime, I do the program and figure this is just a part of the journey. It may actually turn out to be a good thing as, if you stick with it during a plateau, usually you get some inch loss, which I've been missing.

Plus I've been losing weight like a house on fire so it was bound to slow up eventually.

Still, argh.

Can I still howl? I hear it's aerobic.

Dag: it's always the smallest of things that need the most attention.

Be-yoou-tiful day yesterday. Trotted my new Washington Heights loop, just the upper part because er, uh, OH, did I mention I found a really clean bathroom on Dykeman Street?__ i did. and then I ran the rest of the way. 4.2 miles.

In a week or two it may be warm enough for wimps to walk outside.

I will enjoy myself.

Gotta think long-term.
Think of it as a wave that has its peaks and valleys.
What matters is the overall slope. If it's negative, you know you're OK.
But you have to keep at it for a while to see what the overall slope will be.

Definitely. It's like investing. Long-term, baby. The market fluctuates but the long term works.
