I believe in both science and God. God made the earth. Yes. Did He do it in 7 days? Probably not. But I think that all of nature is God so evolution is God's work.

Why is it that non-believers think it has to be one way or the other?

You can believe in science and God both.

Do you want references to what you really did posted?

Either tell the truth, or don't reference what you did. I have no reluctance to resurrect that dead horse.

Cyracuz,
things which are inarguably real and God are completely different. You can't compare them. To put your faith in God is silly. To put your faith in a scientific project is a completely different matter.

Why is it a different matter? Faith is believing in something that you cannot see and cannot know for a fact. Are you saying that science is to be taken on faith without evidence?

Post all of them you want ehBeth and Lash. What happened, happened. If you have no problems keeping arguments going or causing dissention and strife then have at it. I am not going to get into an argument with you or anyone else. What good would that serve?

I believe what I believe for whatever reason I believe it. All of you believe what you believe for whatever reasons you believe it or don't believe it.

But because I don't measure up to your standards of reasoning and because I have faith I am considered crazy, etc? The really great irony of all of this is that while those of you non-believers want tolerance for so many things you are completely intolerant of my faith. Now, isn't that something? It seems the tables have turned on who appears to feel they are superior, doesn't it?

My believing in God has no effect on any of your lives unless you let it have an effect. I don't know any of you and you don't know me. Quite a few of you just assume what I must be like and do because I believe in God. I really find that pretty irrational.

It's the way life is. No one is the same. Deeming anyone anything because they are different from you is total intolerance.

Arella Mae,
I am sorry, but I want to point out one of the beatitudes that we should all be aware of.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God"

I am not saying that you force anything because I do not believe that you do. However, I do believe that you should lighten up a bit and be a little more tolerant of the intolerant.

Intrepid,

I have made my last post in this thread. I am not going to argue with anyone about any of this. It serves no good.

It's just life. Some believe, some don't. Doesn't make any of us better than the other as far as I'm concerned. It's reality.

There was this joke when I was a child about the boy who lived down the street who was quadriplegic and his mom was always talking to the neighborhood kids about including him in their sand-lot baseball games. So one day the neighbor boys decided to include him in their sat morning game, he became third base. I'm guessing that the longer Arella Mae continues to post on spirituality threads here the more she will come to be thought of as "third base."
Or, as Arella Mae prefers to say "we should just agree to disagree." which pretty much eliminates the need to post here, innit?

For anyone, newbies or otherwise, who thinks this particular poster is being attacked for her beliefs, that is not the case.

There are several respected Christians at this site.

well, I attack this particular poster on the solid grounds that she remains a christian in spite of those such as meself who continually offer to free her from irrational mysticism. It's not really my mission in life, you could probably think of it as a hobby not unlike building ships in bottles.

That's incorrect. Would you like me to cut & paste the multitude of personal attacks posted against her in this thread?

This particular point (in all its variations), which occurs with noticable frequency in these forums, has always amazed / bemused me.

Not that I disagree exactly, but isn't your statement against the Christian ethics of not judging people? (an ethic that I have always thought rather impossible to keep, unless it refers to how one uses the 'judgements' they make...and the subsequent wording used)
