Preliminary results Obama leading by 30 in Alabama Shocked Exclamation

Exit poll says its Obama 54, Clinton 41, a 13-point lead..

And this is a race that polls had the two practically tied at!

Where Obama wins, he's rolling. He'll get lots of Delegates from this.

I'm a little worried about him in California. Hopefully SoCal got their acts together where he is more popular than NorCal.

Geez, Nimh, you should get a consulting job with one of the media organizations who could make good use of your hobby, skills and obsession with the statistics.

Hope that is a good omen that we've both read the same thing about the two geographic areas.

In the Northeast, Romney overperforms - except in his home state

Again, going on the preliminary exit polls as they are online now, and comparing them with the average numbers for the polling done in the past five days, we see a different picture in the Republican race in the Northeast than in the South -- here, it's Romney who overperforms in NY and NJ, even as actual victory was of course far beyond his reach, but he underperformed in the state he did win, his home state Massachusetts.

Code:
NEW YORK

MCCAIN ROMNEY HUCKABEE

POLLING LAST FEW DAYS 52 23 8

EXIT POLLS NOW 47 34 10

DIFFERENCE -5 +11 +2

NEW JERSEY

MCCAIN ROMNEY HUCKABEE

POLLING LAST FEW DAYS 53 26 7

EXIT POLLS NOW 51 31 9

DIFFERENCE -2 +5 +2

MASSACHUSETTS

MCCAIN ROMNEY HUCKABEE

POLLING LAST FEW DAYS 36 58 3

EXIT POLLS NOW 37 52 5

DIFFERENCE +1 -6 +2

What happened to the 'youth' vote? ABC just reported they must have slept in.

Minnesota with 10% counted has Obama/Clinton at 66%/32% respectvely.

Missouri with 29% counted has Clinton/Obama at 58%/37% respectively.

Neither have yet to be projected by NPR for anyone.

Arizona exit poll seems to suggest a VERY close race:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21225968

Recalculating the numbers by gender, I get:

47% Clinton
48% Obama

But what a gender gap again! Obama leads men by 11, but trails among women by 6. And what a turnout of women! Women made up, apparently, a whopping 62% of total turnout.
