Latest Poll Shows Edwards Most Electable Dem!

Reply Tue 11 Dec, 2007 04:08 pm
In a CNN poll announced on Hardball, Edwards beats all comers easily in the general election. Obama and Clinton beat Guiliani and Romney nationally as well but by a smaller margin. The only Republican winning against a Dem would be McCain against Clinton.

Pretty surprising to me, I will try to get a link later.

I think McCain should be the next President. I don't think there's one candidate out there, in either party, that could have survived his POW experience. Or, for that matter, perform in the capacity he did in the military. He's the only Real McCoy, in my opinion, when it comes to having served the country.

Everybody rushed to nominate a certain person last election, based on his electability. He did not prevail. I say, ignore the gd polls and vote your personal best choice.

It is too early to predict the final round.
My wish is this.
Before the pick up the final round candidate the American voters should ponder over deeply.
Of course they elect a president of their choice but they should not forget that he should be the one to refurbish the image of USA.
Th whole world expects a President who uphold peace ( Anti-War) and some decent social securities for the Americans like health care and a person who earnestly think about the problem of immigration and environment.
Let us see who arrest or attract the attention of the globe.

No suprise to me that a white southern christian male would be polled as more "electable" in America than Obama or Hillary. The suprise is that it should suprise anyone.

yer welcome billy bob. In your world, a woman or black is just as electable in the US as a black liberal man? Say hello to Napoleon and Jesus for me.

I'm not responsible for the rest of the world... only myself. You should try it.

Actually, I believe, Colin Powell is very electable. I would think that when a Black person gets elected to the Presidency, it will be a Conservative Republican. Likely someone with a military career in the past. My point is, I believe, white folks would elect a Black person that is as religious and conservative as they are, and without Muslim ancestors.

Most Americans who are white, conservative, and Christian, just want a President that they can relate to on the important things to them, like religion and politics.

I personally believe too many Black Americans have painted themselves into a corner with their loyalty to the Democratic Party, and that party just has too many constituencies, to satisfy, to back a Black candidate, if the party wants to win (like women are also waiting for the first woman President). On the other hand, Republicans just want a conservative with their values. I don't expect you to believe me.

I would consider voting for Powell as long as he had an "R" after his name.

Powell, being a Republican and a proven yes man would not get my vote, ever.

I would like to live somewhere, namely here, where a person's religion, sexual identity or personal life had not a damn thing to do with the business of running the country.

Tell me... you need a tricky operation... you have a choice of a white, male born again Christian with a 40% success rate or a black, female or Middle Eastern satanist with a 90% success rate to choose from... YOUR LIFE IS IN THE BALANCE.... what's your priority?

I DO think that this country is willing to elect a black man OR a woman as President.
I just dont think it will be Obama or Hillary.
I wold support Colin Powell or Jean Kirkpatrick however.

What I am concerned with is what happens if Hillary or Obama DONT win.
Will they immediately claim racism or sexism,or will they graciously accept the fact that they were not popular enough to win the votes?

The question, in my opinion, is a non-sequitor, since having a tricky operation requires skills that are not related to the skills required to be a competent President. The skill sets are apples and oranges. So, if I choose the surgeon with the 90% success rate, I wouldn't vote for that surgeon as President. Two different skill sets.

But the premise that religion should have no relation to one's religion is not based in political reality. O.K., then I would think it makes sense to you for Israel to elect a Christian Prime Minister. That is unlikely; agreed? Similarly, the U.S. is very much a Christian "Israel" at its inception, since the early colonists were fleeing religious persecution in Europe. Voila; Christian Americans prefer Christian candidates.

and being president requires skills that have no relation to race, religion or sexual preference. Everything high functioning requires special skills

Mean Jean Kirpatrick?

Are you serious? Why would you support her, and not some of the others? What has she done that makes you think she's ready for the presidency?

Thats true.
So why are so many people on here so concerned about race, religion or sexual preference when it comes to who they vote for?
