latin word definition

I am interested in the meaning of the latin word "ultrea". I am given to understand that it means "always persevere" or "never give up until you reach your destination"

The translation features I have used only gave the meaning of "patient"

This is quite a different interpretation. I would be interested in other comments on the meaning of "ultrea" as I am thinking of using in the context of a business name.

thanks
Sandra

Did you mean "ultreya"?

That is a medieval Spanish word meaning "onward".

It is spoken as a word of encouragement among pilgrims on the Camino
de Santiago, the route to the Spanish shrine of Santiago de Compostela.
It is also used among members of the Cursilllo movement. In those
contexts it does have the connotation of "persevere".

@George,
True George, but on the Camino de Santiago it encompasses a variety of meanings including "onward" but also to keep persevering, not giving up, reaching the destination and the journey itself....

Hope this is helpful, just wanted to share from my own experience Smile

@porch,
Two friends of mine made the pilgrimage and could not stop talking about
the experience. What you have said is what they emphasized as well.

@Setanta,
In my opinion, these "obscure dead" or "terminal" languages are vital to our culture, help to understand the world we now live in.....!!!!!!!!!
